Really? Darn...
Currently, the ship has posted itself on some major trade routes, preying on the new republic's supply lines, so I was thinking about naming Charybdis, from Greek mythology. Since they have things like Hydra, basilisk, chimeara, gorgon. All mythical beasts. Since Daala was briefly in charge of the imperial remnant, it's possible that the naming of his ship coincided with the other names.
But, the commander is a true believer, his end goal is to figure out a way to bring Palpatine back once again. I've come up with a few theories, but nothing terribly solid.
The only modifications made to the ship. Black outer paint, and 4 gravity well generators. Other than that, it's a stock ISD III. |

I've come to a decision... and I hate that the name has been used by another SciFi movie. But, I think I'm going to name his ship The Event Horizon. More based on the scientific aspects. Being that it's the point from which nothing can escape. Just seems too appropriate for me to ignore.
Thanks for all your help everyone! |

You could always look at historical names, and naming it after imperial heroes/ commanders.
Ex:
Thrawn
Maximillian Veers
Dreadnaught
Ark Royal
etc...
You could always change Ark Royal to Ark Imperial or something like that. |

Another possibility is to look up ship names from Warhammer 40K. Imperium Capital Ship nomenclature is easily as pretentious as the Empire, if not more so. Plus, WH40K Chaos ships have some rather ominous sounding names that would fit well with the Imperial mindset. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Also, check out the book series "The Lost Fleet" by Jack Campbell. Starting in the third book "Courageous" they have a list of ships in the Alliance fleet. I've drawn heavily from that list recently, . . . |

Indeed Bren. There are so very many to choose from.
Besides, all of the villainous imperial officers were played by British actors. Doesn't that say something? |

That's also why, historically Hollywood often cast British actors to play ancient Romans. So in Spartacus (1960) we see Laurence Olivier playing Marcus Licinius Crassus and Charles Laughton playing Sempronius Gracchus while the rebel Spartacus is played by an American (Kirk Douglas); in Cleopatra (1963) we see Richard Burton as Mark Antony and Rex Harrison as Julius Caesar; and in Ben Hur (1959) we see Jack Hawkins as Quintus Arrius and Stephen Boyd as Messala.
Besides, we colonials usually find a posh British accent sounds very intellectual and intellectuals - as opposed to action oriented manly men, always make great villains. |

A few I've used:
Rampart
Solace
White Raven
Foehammer (although it sticks in my mind that one may have been used in an X-wing game or something...)
Paradigm
Insurmountable

Plus, arrogance just sounds better with a cultured British accent, while rage sounds better with a southern U.S. accent. _________________ Or that excessively long "Noooooooooo" was the Whining Side of the Force leaving him. - Dustflier

I like Ironfist. Perhaps I'll find a use for it sometime in the near future. _________________ RR
