Good morning eveyrone. I hope you are enjoying the long weekend.

Just thought I'd update everyone on where we stand. The good news:
By my count we are up to 6pcs:
- A Bith pilot (Guardian_A)
- An astromech droid (Mathias)
- An Ubese Mercenary (Southpaw)
- A Clone Captain (dadofett)
- A Jedi Knight (Jedi Skyler)
- A Padawan (Orgaloth)

That seems like a good number and I may cap it there, unless I hear from someone else real soon. I have received a few character sheets so far and they all look good.

Also, I believe I have enough story to start us off and keep us going for a while. The bad news, is that I have not heard back from an administrator about getting a new PBP thread started. Anyone know specififcally who I should contact about that? (I have tried Gry and Loc Taal).

Anyway, enjoy the rest of the weekend and keep those character sheets coming. Once I have them all in and finalized and I hear back from the powers that be, we'll be able to get going.

Maybe try PMing Scrawprin? I wonder if Loc would be open to appointing some new admins...

If you've tried those two, the only other person I know for you to try is Scrawprin. I know Loc has posted on here within the last couple weeks at the longest, so he's definitely still around and watching things. If he takes a bit more time to respond, it will only give us time for all the players to get their sheets finalized and ready. I'd say if you PM Scrawprin and haven't heard from anyone by the end of the week, start another round of PMs. Someone will answer eventually...

I think Gry can set it up too. I did see Loc on here a couple of weeks ago though.

While we are waiting on admins and threads... is there a good post/thread to look at on the mechanics of PbP? Ie, how do we do stuff? This will be my first time....

Will Wisconsin Wookie describe a scene and then we all post our reaction/actions? How do you conduct "fine grain" actions (combat) without it taking forever? Rolls are done by GM I'm guessing?

Sorry to be such a newbie.

Good questions, and seeing as this is the firs PBP I will be GMing, perhaps others can help us out. I was planning to do all of the rolling here on my desk with actual dice, but there are plenty of online dice rollers we could use if everyone wanted. In my opinion, it would seem to save some time and keep things going a little more smoothly if take care of the dice rolling.

I will also do my best to describe the scene and give you the layout of what's happening. I'll have an OOC (out of character) thread open and running at the same time as the IC thread, so if you are ever unsure of what's happening or need more clarification, you can post there and I will give more explanation.

As far as your question on combat, I am not sure what to tell you other than we will see how that goes. That's a good question b/c I hope to be throwing in plenty of that! Perhaps others could offer suggestions here?

I've run a couple of PBP games in the past. I tend to start things off by explaining the situation/setting and allowing the characters to interact with it, usually taking the time to tell them how far to take their post (One round, one hour, one day, end of trip, etc.)

As for combat, I tend to let a player tell me their intent (Shoot them in the head, spray & pray, run away, dive for cover, etc) then I resolve the round of combat and post the results, explaining what happened, if nothing in the situation changes, then I will resolve a second or even third round before posting. On the other hand, if something about the situation changes, I will make my post then allow the players the chance to tell me what they want to do again, this allows them to stand & fight or run as needed.

Keep the character ideas coming and if you need more info from me, let me know. Is starting next week reasonable, or do you want/need some more time to get ready?

For anyone else out there that is following along: last call for new characters. Send me a pm if you want to play.
