For the players the nukes served two purposes: with their part of the country occupied by hostiles, it reminded them they weren't fighting alone, and it suggested things were getting desperate. It thus raised the "pucker factor".
Some players thought such a fight was hopeless. Some thought the Empire cannot defeat us. I think it would be somewhere in the middle. Certainly, that's where the best role playing possabilities lay. _________________ Know Jesus, Know Peace.

I’m sure the Empire would have to be toned down a tad so to actually give earth a chance. After all, you do get to be a galaxy spanning empire with crappy tactics. _________________ "My schooling not only failed to teach me what it professed to be teaching, but prevented me from being educated to an extent which infuriates me when I think of all I might have learned at home by myself." - George Bernard Shaw |

Yes, I agree that their tactics are crap. Mr. Lucas is a good movie maker, but obviously not a soldier. To military eyes, the Empire doesn't have any tactics, neither does the Trade Federation (nor anyone else we saw in the movies).
In our campaign, the Earth loses every time. But the heroic roleplaying is found in what the players/characters do about it. _________________ Know Jesus, Know Peace.

I tend to assume that the Empire has excellent tactics, we just don’t get to see them on screen. _________________ "My schooling not only failed to teach me what it professed to be teaching, but prevented me from being educated to an extent which infuriates me when I think of all I might have learned at home by myself." - George Bernard Shaw |

Hey, the Stromtroopers we saw in all three movies completed their missions, except on Endor. _________________ "My schooling not only failed to teach me what it professed to be teaching, but prevented me from being educated to an extent which infuriates me when I think of all I might have learned at home by myself." - George Bernard Shaw |

those were the vets, you see, because their so skilled, right after the mission is complete, and we see the completed mission, they're off doing something else, while the newbies stand around in amazement |

I actually will be addressing issues with Stromtroopers in an essay I will post later. _________________ "My schooling not only failed to teach me what it professed to be teaching, but prevented me from being educated to an extent which infuriates me when I think of all I might have learned at home by myself." - George Bernard Shaw |

Cool, glad to know someone has an intrest.
Though I'm not sure where to place the thread. _________________ "My schooling not only failed to teach me what it professed to be teaching, but prevented me from being educated to an extent which infuriates me when I think of all I might have learned at home by myself." - George Bernard Shaw |

Beef?
My friend I have a whole heard of steer with that!
But considering that I will incorporate a lot of the work I have done with Stormtroopers and post them up as well, that might be considered house rules. But the essay itself will primarily deal with the movies and cannon. _________________ "My schooling not only failed to teach me what it professed to be teaching, but prevented me from being educated to an extent which infuriates me when I think of all I might have learned at home by myself." - George Bernard Shaw |
