The Empire obviously costs a lot of money to run. Since there's no such thing as a free ISD, the money must come from the general poplulace. Any idea how the Empire's taxation system works?
I'm particularly wondering about sales tax, since my character doesn't actually live in the Empire, and they probably have no way to measure his vibrantly illegal income. _________________ Or that excessively long "Noooooooooo" was the Whining Side of the Force leaving him. - Dustflier

I didnt see a lot about taxes, but this might point you in the right direction:

I've always told my players that the tax was worked into the price of everything in the Star Wars universe. Problem solved! |

Most places the tax (sales) are already included. Other places get their taxes via fees and fines (like failing to have license for X, 1000 credit spot fine) etc.
Import/export duties also are a taxation way to get people. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Probably something along the lines of the new simplified 1040 form for the Internal Revenue Service:
Step 1: Add up all the money you made this year.
Step 2: Mail it in. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

That was how I figured it, but it actually unsolves my problem of how much of a discount to offer on worlds out imperial taxation. Also, it affects how things add up when you sell used equipment. _________________ Or that excessively long "Noooooooooo" was the Whining Side of the Force leaving him. - Dustflier

IMO I think the tax rates probably vary widely through the Empire. Some worls probably have a moderate rate, and others an oppressive rate. I think some works might not even have taxes (free ports) but instead, the planet pays off a fee to the Empire for the privilege. |

It would also depend on whether the planet needs income now or not.. If so, taxes are high and gathered promptly.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
