Finished the first session a couple of days back, and this happened:
The Federal navy raided an Imperial convoy, which was inadequately defended due to Moffs bickering about who's job it is to escort inter-sector convoys. One Imperial Nebulon-B frigate was disabled by turbolaser fire, a Corellian corvette surrendered immediately afterwards and the last escort ship (a corvette) fled by blind jumping. A small KDY contigent in the convoy resisted boarding fiercely when boarded but were in the end subdued by Federal marines and a small group of Mandalorians. A KDY Tartan-class patrol ship surrendered without firing a shot. The four independent traders in the convoy were sent away without taking their cargo.
The KDY ship was found to carry an Imperial Vice Admiral (killed during boarding) and non-standard starfighter parts which later were linked to some KDY clandestine project (the early stages of the A-9 Vigilance interceptor development). Also, one of the cargo ships was found to be carrying slaves, and the slavers spilled their guts in interrogation about a Zygerrian operation nearby that has set up a major slaving base in the Outer Rim. Apparently, this base is an illegal slaving operation not approved by the Empire.
The Chief of Staff's player got a secret message from Samog the Hutt, who is a major fringe arms dealer wanting to make business. Naturally, the player are somewhat cautious when dealing with a hutt, which makes it even weirder since Samog the Hutt is kind of an anomaly in being mostly honest in his dealings and being somewhat opposed to slavery himself.
The next session will center on planning and execution of an attack on the slaver base: it's in an uninhabited system and it's very well equipped to act as a logistics base, which makes it a tempting target for the Federation. In addition, Federal Intelligence will manage to track down the KDY starfighter project which operates from a KDY tender in deep space. The problem here will be to find a way to seize the ship without it fleeing into hyperspace. And Airen Cracken will make a short cameo appearance: he is worried about Ackbar not providing sufficient backup for the recently-defected Far Orbit frigate, and he wants to make a deal with the Federation to see to that the privateering project is successful. |
