Er. Hello, I'm new. I've been playing SW since the release of WEG 2nd ed, on and off. Just got sick of D&D so we started up a d6 game.

Welcome to the group!

Thankfully, I never had to get sick of D&D. I started on SW!

I'm new here (but not to d6), and here is my story.

The d6 Star Wars RPG was my first RPG. My father was a conservative Southern Baptist who had lots of misconceptions about D&D, but I found I could buy Star Wars RPG books and slide right under the radar. I started collecting the books in '96 and found players and started playing in fall of '97. I spent the late 1990's playing and running this game quite regularly, and was quite upset when WEG lost the license and went bankrupt in the summer of '98. When the d20 edition came out in November of 2000, we all jumped on the bandwagon and played it, and the other two d20 editions.

I've got a bookshelf full of SWRPG books of all the editions and systems, and loads of those character and starship minis WotC made.

I'm getting back to the d6 edition because I have finally got a gaming group together for the first time in years. However, one hates math-heavy rules-heavy systems like d20, and the others weren't overly familiar with it, and I figured d6 was much easier to teach, was much more "rules light", and I remembered as a GM how much easier it was to stat up NPCs and run things without the intricacies of Saga Edition or the nitpicky skill point and feat tabulations of the d20 Revised Core Rules.

Right now, we're going with running the Dawn of Defiance campaign, converting it to d6. I'm using miniatures, but only loosely to illustrate positions and help visualize the battles, not letting them constrain things.

The name "Taelin" comes from my favorite PC I ever played, Commander Taelin Thurn, Jedi Knight, from a long-running campaign that went from 1 BBY to 5 ABY.

Hey Taelin, welcome to the Rancor Pit. Glad you could join us.

I totally agree with you on the advantages of system simplicity and quick calculation in D6 compared to D&D/D20. Most everyone can add up six-sided dice. Wink

I'm hardly new here, but back after several years of being away.
Had some health issues I had to deal with (stress and depression).
Am all good now.

Soooo good being back.

For those who don't know me:
My name is Adrian and I'm from Adelaide, Australia.
I'm a 37yo Male who's also into FPS (First Person Shooters) and Motorcycling.
I GM an ever-growing group of SWd6 gamers, so much so, I'm having to turn players down for game spots (if only all our problems were like this).

I've recently opened my 8yo daughter's eyes to the world of Star Wars and she has delved into it head-first with all the enthusiasm of a starved dingo. A future female gamer in the family me hopes.

Anyways, see you around the forum (again).

Welcome back!

Glad to hear you're all good now.

Did you show your daughter the films? If so what order did you show them to her in?

Thanks Esoomian,

I have shown her Ep IV, V and VI so far, and she's started reading the SW novels I have here at home.
I wanted to gauge from her reaction from those films, and I believe they were a good intro for an 8yo girl, even if the Rancor gave her a nightmare.
She's still heaps keen though and today has asked me to run an RPG for her sometime soon.
I'll show her Ep I, II and III, but not just yet I think.

Hey everyone (or should i say fellow Rebels Smile )

I just joined this forum after having digged out my old copies of the weg star wars rpg.I got fed up ith the d20 and the saga stuff and wanted to run the old sw game like i did back in the 90ties. So here I am.

I am 34 years old and have been a star wars fan most of my life. I got fed up when the phantom menace premiered the theatres but that is all forgiven now... I focus on the good things... hehe

So, I have a wife and daughter (1 year old) and I work as a chemical engineer focused on work safety when handeling dangerous chemicals (kind of dangerous anyway)

So my first question, perhaps you can point me in the right direction if this stuff has already been dealt with on the forum: I run a game set in the rise of the empire era (or end of the ep 3 movie, moving on in to rise of the emp. ). The characters from the campaign are level four characters in the saga edition.

Should we make characters from scratch, keeping it easy 18D and 7D or do you have any suggestions?
Also: In the force unleashed book (saga) there are rules for organisations, creating them and being the boss over them. One of the characters is a boss over a small trading outpost. How should I deal with that in D6?

Ok, one more thing, I´m swedish so bear with my strange expressions and misspellings.

Hej Orville! Welcome to the Rancor Pit.

You are not alone, I know of two other regular posters from Sweden and all of us here enjoy Star Wars and D6.

I only played D20 during playtesting for the original WotC rules. I far prefer D6 for Star Wars. I can't really comment on conversion issues. You'll probably need to discuss the new characters vs. converting characters with your players. Generally it is always easier to start fresh, but I know sometimes people get really attached to the characters' personalities and so they my really want to keep playing the same characters. I've done that in other systems that were more similar.

There are some conversion rules for D20 to D6 that are used by the folks that do the conversion books, those may be helpful if you choose to switch the characters. Best of luck returning to the wonderful world of Star Wars D6.

I thought I would take a moment to introduce myself.

I've been lurking on this site off and on for several years now, but finally decided to make my presence known.

I'm a casual gamer. I've been roleplaying for over 20 years now. I got my start back in Jr High playing D&D with some friends, then spent several years GMing Star Wars before moving on to Storytelling the original World of Darkness for the better part of 10 years (Yes, one epic campaign!). When my gaming group broke up a few years ago, I started GMing Star Wars again with a couple of other friends, but after about a year the game fizzled out. About a year ago I joined another gaming group as a player of both Pathfinder and Battletech. In the last few weeks, I've got my old WoD group back together to play Fallout (Exodus.)

So, with all of that said, I've never lost my love of the old Star Wars roleplaying game. I've looked over the d20 version of the game and feel that it simply dosnt have the same energy as the WEG rules.

In the last few days, I've found myself looking over a couple of half completed Star Wars related projects. With the urge to complete old projects also came the urge to become involved with people who love this game as much as I do. So here I am!
