I am trying to come up with a list of must have items for a bounty hunter to "acquire" during
the campaign, whether by purchasing or scavenging.
So I thought I'd throw this out here for you guys. What do you think are the "must haves" for
any real bounty hunter? What can you not do without?
Thanks!! _________________ Do or Do Not ...there is no try. -Yoda |

Thanks!! | A license and a weapon are must haves. Unless the hunter only hunts wanted dead bounties some type of non-lethal weapon is a must have. If the hunter is operating across multiple plantes/systems a ship with a cell of some kind is a must have.
Everything else is a nice to have. |

some sort of restraints are a must - especially if the aquisition is from one of the more physically strong races _________________ -

When it comes to tools for the ultimate bounty hunter, pick up a copy of GG10. It has a huge section on weaponry (lethal and non-lethal) and useful equipment. It also details documentation and procedures and such for bounty hunters. You'll have to look elsewhere for ships, but GG10 is a good place to start. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Although the rules don't say so, I've got to think that in addition to being annoyingly time consuming, keeping someone unconcious long term by repeatedly stunning them probably has some risk of permanent damage. |

Okay I must have not been very clear I am sorry. I have a list already. I have read GG10,
Scum & Villany, KotoR, Gry's Equip, Galaxy at War, etc.
Some items I am including are: Tangle Gun, Earbud comlink, etc.
(the whole list includes 22 items currently)
What I am wanting to know. If you were making a BH char what equipment could you not live without?
Let's all assume we have our license, we have a weapon (blaster of some kind), something in which to
keep the npc from escaping/fleeing capture; besides these things what would your character want? _________________ Do or Do Not ...there is no try. -Yoda |

Body armor, probably lots of it. _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

Do you think body armor is worth the extra negative to dexterity?
Just trying to weigh the options in my mind. _________________ Do or Do Not ...there is no try. -Yoda |

Short answer: Yes. If you are being shot at armor is very neccessary.
Long answer: Absolutely yes. There is the school of thought (which I subscribe to, btw) that an individual can "buy" back the Dexterity penalty. I treat the penalty as an advanced skill for the buy back. That also has the nice side effect of making Stormtroopers much more deadly. _________________ Blasted rules. I understood you had a list already and probably had or had seen information on bounty hunters e.g. GG10 else you would have asked a different question. My answer was the minimum necessary. I respectfully disagree with my esteemed fellow poster jmanski in that I think armor is a nice to have and not always a must have; see below. Just trying to weigh the options in my mind. | Depends. Negative to DEX effects dodge (and blaster). For most human type characters, I would go with lighter armor and little or no DEX minus and rely on a good dodge. If the character has a high STR, I might go for heavier armor with a DEX penalty and rely on the enhanced STR to absorb/avoid damage. |

Depending on how technically apt your bounty hunter is I would say at the very least a good set of tools for repairing weapons/armor or an armorer-droid with programming to reapir weapons/armor.
In addition to that I'd say at least ½ ton scanner resistant cargo space for stowing away backup equipment, if the ship you are flying allows for any cargo to be converted.
Beyond that I can't think of much I would have on my must have list. _________________ -

You have the solution right before your eyes!
Buy the smasher armour from GG10. +1D phys/energy resistance, +2D STR/lifting/melee damage. 1250 Cr, Availability: 3. NO DEX PENALTY!!

A really good ship is one key thing to have. Fast enough to follow your quarry and powerful enough to survive if it tries to fight back. Remember powerful ion cannons to be able to take down opponents without turning them into fireballs. I guess a tractor beam should be a good thing too.
Holding cells with some kind of subduing device. Also a medical bay with a good meddroid. _________________ My Biggest Beard Retard award goes to: The Admiral of course.. |

Good or bad?
Good guy BH must haves
1) Ship with restraints and med facilities.
2) license (NOT fake) and permits for weaponry
3) Lotsa contacts
4) good skills overrides need for good armor. BUT good armor can't hurt
5) stun grenades, blaster rifle and batons.

Other than the ship, there are IMO no items i couldn't live without, if i already have weapons, restraints and licenses. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
