We could pick it back up after the Unknown Regions is complete. However, I think the biggest block to getting this done is the attempts to write bios in the same way that WEG did. They had writers that were really talented at writing these sort of things. They could write a backstory, weave a character's point of view into the events of a movie, and make it interesting to read.
Personally, I'm pretty good at technical and academic writing. Unfortunately, Star Wars isn't philosophy or theology. I'm wondering if I shouldn't avoid attempting to make it like WEG, write shorter bios for the major characters covering their involvement in the movie, and just get it out there and get it done. I'm not saying write bios as short as WotC, but still, shorter bios on major characters would get this project done. _________________ __________________________________

Aww... c'mon. Cut me a little slack. I'm still getting Dawn of Defiance finished. I thought we'd be done with it before Unknown Regions.
ROTS is not forgotten. _________________ __________________________________

Maybe we could all contribute on this with some of the minor Characters. Perhaps form a list of Characters and we can pick names and write the bios. We could submit them to you and as editor, you can decide what goes in. It's a daunting task for one person to do alone, but I think it could be a lot of fun as a group project. _________________ -The Wookie has no pants- |

This is a must have as well as the Legacy of the Force sourcebook. I look forward to seeing these completed. I have offered my services to the LotF group, if I dont here back from them soon, I wouldn't mind helping out with some of the Rots stuff if you want any help that is. _________________ So...you rolled 9, 6s on 3 dice. I am sorry if I seem impatient or demanding.
I just really would like to see that ROTS book, as well as perhaps some day the TPM book.
My posting was merely meant to show you that I am still looking forward to it. |

I've got a list of the characters that we've worked on. I can make sure it's up to date. The minor characters are fairly easy. I got discouraged and backed off after I couldn't do a good Anakin Skywalker article. I'm going to give him another shot right after the last conversion guide. Hish has said that he'll do some writing for this, so if everyone actually contributes, I don't see why this one won't get finished. Really it's too important to just let die. _________________ __________________________________

I wrote a Breha Organa entry and found a nice Picture of her Majesty.
But if there is anyone else I work on to help you just let me know. |

We have the question of "What can I do?" come up time and time again. So, I'll make a post here for what needs to be done. Essentially, we need character write-ups. We need people who are willing to produce well-written bios on characters that appeared in the film. Some of them are well known, others are a bit more obscure.
The general tactic has been to examine the background for the material, and many have chosen to use Wookieepedia to help them, as we don't all have a massive database of obscure characters in our brains. Also, take a look at official WEG bios found in the Trilogy Sourcebook to get a feel for how the bios used to be written. Also, take a good look at the Attack of the Clones galaxy guide to see how major characters were discussed within a narrow time frame.
The characters we still need bios for are as follows:
Quote: |
Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader)
Artoo-Detoo
Bail Organa
Bana Breemu
Baron Papanoida
Bene
Breha Antilles Organa
Captain Jeremoch Colton
Captain Raymus Antilles
Captain Gregar Typho
Cat Miin
Chi Eekway
Chewbacca
Coleman Kcaj
Corla Metonae
Coruscant Rescue Ops
Count Dooku (Darth Tyranus)
Cyn Drallig
Dannl Faytonni
Delva Racine
Duke Teta
Fang Zar
Fema Baab
General Grievous
Giddean Danu
Governor Wilhuff Tarkin
Janu Godalhi
Jar Jar Binks
Koyi Mateil
Lampay Fay
Lieutenant Barrow Oicunn
Lushros Dofine
Mace Windu
Malé-Dee
Mas Amedda
Meena Tills
Merumeru
Mon Mothma
Moteé
Nee Alavar
Neimoidian Guard
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Olana Chion
Orn Free Taa
Ottegru Grey
Padmé Amidala
Palpatine (Darth Sidious)
Passel Argente
Queen Apailana
R4-G9
Romeo Treblanc
Rystáll Sant
Salporin
See-Threepio
Sheltay Retrac
Silya Shessaun
Sly Moore
Tannon Praji
Terr Taneel
Tion Medon
Tundra Dowmeia
Whie Malreaux
Yoda
Zett Jukassa
Zo Howler

I can go back and white out the characters for whom we have approved bios. When I say "approved" we generally get community consensus that a write up is a good treatment, and Gry pretty much has final say. (He's the editor after all, and I can attest that is the way it goes in the publishing world.) If you have to do something a few times, don't feel bad. I'm on my fourth draft of Anakin. (Feel free to take him from me if you want.) _________________ __________________________________

Just to clarify: you need bios, not stats?
Also, do you want the bios to include information from the end of the movie (lived/died, ect.)?
EDIT: Here's a quick write-up I pulled together for Cin Drallig.
Quote: |
After the death of Anoon Bondara, the Jedi High Council elected the talented Jedi Master and lightsaber instructor Cin Drallig to be the new Jedi Battlemaster. In his career as the temple battlemaster, Drallig trained thousands of Jedi in the art of Lightsaber combat, including famous Jedi duelists such as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.
When Order 66 was issued, Drallig, along with Masters Shaak Ti and Jurokk, coordinated the Temple security in case of an attack by the Sith when Mace Windu moved to arrest Chancellor Palpatine. After Windu’s failure, Drallig rallied his students against the 501st legion as it marched on the Jedi Temple. As the Battlemaster cut his way through the clone troopers, the newly christened Darth Vader began hunting for his former instructor.
Drallig encountered the Sith Lord just as Vader cut down Serra Keto, one of Drallig’s best students. After a brief duel, Drallig retreated to the Room of a Thousand Fountains where he was joined in his fight against Vader by two of the padawans who had been sheltered there. They were both quickly cut down by the Sith Lord before Vader overwhelmed Dralling with viscous lightsaber attacks that proved to be too much for the aging Battlemaster. With Drallig and the older padawans dead, the remaining Jedi children in the room were easily killed by the 501st.
Drallig was among the best lightsaber combatants in the Order, mastering every form of combat known to the Jedi. His intensive training methods earned him the nickname “Troll” amongst his pupils. |

We already have stats, all we need are the bios. The general timeframe is the events that took place in the movie. It is acceptable to give a bit of background from before this time frame just for the setup, iirc. _________________ __________________________________

Please do. You might even go back in this thread and take a look at my two or three rejected versions. It might help you know what not to do. _________________ __________________________________
