Are Mandalorians a Near-Human species or just Humans with anoher name? I'd say a Near-Human, since they have a serious battle-lust, are stronger then normal humans and come from another part of the Galaxy.
What do you think? |

I think the original Mandalorians were aliens, but the "Mandalorian" term over the centuries became a label moreso than a race. _________________ Growing old is inevitable. Growing up is optional! |

Mandalorians are human. They originally crashed into the inhospitable world, which became known for their great warrior leader, Mandalore. The planet and leader share the name of Mandalore.
For quite a long time, since before the clone wars I know, the location of Mandalore has been hidden. Mandalorians on Mandalore rarely travel from their home, and few of the Mandalorians scattered throughout the galaxy know of their home's location.
They no longer hold the position the Jedi took from them. They are no longer the Knights of the Old Republic...

Are you sure??? Everything I read is that they were a species (like the Sith originally were), but later their culture became the dominant aspect of Mandalorian life and not so much the species and over the years more different species became "Mandalorian" and adopted their ways. _________________ Growing old is inevitable. I have read several things. From it being explorers, to a cruise ship crashing on a desert world, to them having been more feline/simian and they interbred/engineered themselves with human for enhancments.
They can't all be true. But, whatever. Since pretty much every Mandalorian ever spoken of has been a human, why not make them all human. That is what I did.
...hell, there is one story where they live in trees on Mandalore, another where they live in halls of stone...
Another where the leader is called Mandal and the planet is called Mandal.
Boba Fett wasn't a Mandalorian for two decades, now suddenly he is. I have yet to see any story that confirms he is, or that his Mandalorian Styled armor may or may not be made of MandalMetal, but it is popular to beleive he is.
Really... no one has ever laid down anything concrete for them. _________________ My backpack has jets!

True. GM's should do whatever they like anyway. I make stuff the way I want it all the time as well. FOr me, the Star Wars universe is a great place to play an RPG...but everything ever printed or shown in theaters is just resource material for me anyway. I take what I want/need for the campaign and to hell with the story itself...I make my own. _________________ Growing old is inevitable. Growing up is optional! |

Thanks Jamfke. That's a lot more comprehensive.
They leave out the Mandalorian place in the Great Jedi Purge though. _________________ My backpack has jets!

Apparantly the stats are the same as whatever species they are from. Preffered template is Bounty Hunter. _________________ My backpack has jets!

Mandalorians came from a planet called Malachor V, they were a nearly-human alien tipe.
Thei had a clan-based society leaded by a leader choosen among the bravest warriors of their kind called Mandalore (Mandalore is a title, not a person).
They attacked the Old Republic looking for a fierce opponent, which let to their destruction.
The Republic and some Jedis under the leadership of Revan fought a battle with the Mandalorians for some years.
The mandalorians were nearly extinguished once they were beaten by Revan, at the end of the war the Mandalorian clans were scattered through the universe, their planet laid in ashes and was just a shadow of what it once were.
The Jedis and republic soldiers who followed Revan to the last battle at Malachor V, disappeared from known space.
Revan returned 2 years after the end of the war now as a sith.
