I've loved the Verpine ever since they first appeared in the second adventure module, Strike Force: Shantipole. There is one major thing wrong with them though - They don't have six limbs like real insects.
I also thought it would be cool to make a centauriform species in Star Wars, and thought that since they have six limbs, I could tie their background into the six-limbed insect species, establishing that both sentient species evolved in different continents of the same planet (where mammals also have six limbs, and the sentient insects are more humanoid than insect-shaped. I have an image a guy made for me of the centaur-people and a deep background for both species (they destroyed their world in a war thousands of years ago).
But I had no image for the insects. I was just going to try to photoshop extra arms onto a Verpine, but now I'm afraid that would be unconvincing. I thought of even just looking for Star Wars species with six limbs to base them on, like the Kamarians, but I don't want a bug abdomen or tail because it is too far off from the humanoid Verpine. I considered the Noehons but I don't care for the artwork we have for them and their background (primitive slavers) is awful. So I decided to search for a non-Star-Wars image and found these guys, I guess they are D&D race in some campaign settings, the Thri-kreen.
I will still have to photoshop this to starwarsify it. Are there any better images of similar insect-people out there that might fit the bill?
And either way, does anyone have any good concept or "hook" ideas for this species, keeping in mind these should be a good PC species? Ideally it would also seem appropriate for insect people. I'd really like them to be different from Verpine, which in my SWU is a genetically modified offshoot of this insect species. This four-armed insect species are rivals of the centaurs (who all have multiple personalities - I'll detail them in the future).

Reminds me of the Kiliks from Star Wars TOR. _________________ RR

It had been some time since I'd played, but you're right, the Killiks do look quite a bit different. _________________ RR

Insectoid aliens that have a more human-like body structure. Basically with two legs and four arms, but with no bulbous abdomen sticking out the rear. The first picture he posted is the sort of thing, as opposed to the Killik picture further down.
Either of these guys useful Whill? (hope these pics aren't too big)

Those look very cool, Xain... the first is very Predator, the second looks very "curious and naive" _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

I am wanting humanoid insects with 4 arms, like the image I shared in the OP. Maybe it's the terminology. By humanoid I mean human-shaped. I don't want bug-shaped, or partial bug-shaped. I want human-shaped insects except that they have 4 arms. I want something like Verpine below, but with 4 arms instead of only two...

The second one was too big, but I updated it to just a link. Thanks for sharing these images.

The first one is very Predator. It looks like a bad guy so probably wouldn't be a good PC species.
I agree with Nexx again on the second one. They don't look evil, but they also don't look very insect, so they are just a bit too alien for what I am going for.
I can see me using both of these images in my game at some point. But they will be NPCs. _________________ *

A bit of an aside, but the modern, abdomen-less thri-kreen have started to grow on me. The old style, I think, never knew quite what to do with the abdomen, and so much of the art around it looks kinda weird. _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

It's too bad HazardChris hasn't been around in a while. I bet he could photoshop some extra arms onto that Verpine and they could be an "offshoot". _________________ RR

Have you considered making your alien a Xi'Dec? They're also insectoid, but with a huge spectrum of different bioforms, each with a corresponding sex (over 180, per the Holocron).

Humans: Just an incredibly pared down Xi'dec morph. _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"
