What is the 1st edition rule as written for Dodge -- does it replace the current Difficulty (e.g. 10 for short range) or does it add to it?

I run it as your Dodge roll replaces your Difficulty, but I'm not sure if that's something I picked up from Mini6 or some other D6 rules system.

The 1e core book is explicit that dodge adds to the attacker's difficulty from range (see p.14 and p.48). Normal dodge replacing the difficulty first came into the game system in the Rules Companion (the third and final iteration of 1e rules), where they added full dodge as the option that still adds, versions of which were retained in 2e. Mini6 and other D6 rules systems are derivative of Star Wars 2e.
