Miss all of you, miss the game. Trying to get a Star Wars D6 REUP game going, but it stalls out more often than not.
Pretty soon I'll be giving my players more freedom as they stop having to take orders all the time, and get to command their own tiny fleet which goes about repairing Starfighters with a stolen prototype SFS "Corvette" (basically a space-going drydock for starfighters.).
But, that's just the cover for the more sneaky and covert operations PCs do, either at the behest of the Generals/Admirals, or because it's for funsies.
This is part of my AU game, as well, where a third side has been added to the Galactic Civil War: The Jedi Protectorate, under Master Anakin Skywalker and Jedi Luke Skywalker, who have liberated Hutt Space (and the slaves therein), and was somehow able to make an alliance with the Mandalorian Warrior Clans by "offering them something the Jedi Council never has before."
So, will the group still side with the Rebellion? Will they join up with this new side in the civil war? Will they turn to the dark side and join the Empire?
Only time will tell. |

Took awhile, but my group has certainly dived into my campaign at last, having made some major choices in where they want their characters to go.
I changed up the history post-Battle Of Hoth so that they aren't "the guys that are doing the clean-up work as the main characters do the awesome stuff".
Essentially, Luke "saves" Vader. Or brings out Anakin Skywalker at the very least. It's still up in the air if Luke brought Anakin back to the Light Side, or if Anakin is completely lost to the Dark Side and Luke dove right into it as well. Either way, they joined forces like "Vader" wanted to (if not quite in the same way), and carved out their own bit of territory they call "The Jedi Protectorate". Thing is, it used to be called "Hutt Space". Considering that they announced the creation with the severed head of Jabba The Hutt, Slavers aren't welcome in the area any longer. In addition, they were, somehow, able to get the Mandalorians on their side, the militant varieties at least. So, a bunch of freed slaves with Mando'a and Clonetrooper trainers, and a Super Star Destroyer (with escort of Star Destroyers) minus the Politicals that the Emperor had forced upon Darth Vader to weaken his fleet...
Anyhow, TL;DR version: Three Way Galactic Civil War is going on, now that the Rebel Alliance has taken in the Hutts as refugees in exchange for Hyperspace Routes, Blackmail Material on Imperials, and other Hutt Crime Syndicate Goodies (and a boatload of Hutt-style Starfighters). The Empire is still slow to shift to the new changes, but their reaction is expected at any time.
As for my group, they got screwed over by the Hutts one too many times, and jumped at the chance to take their tricked-out Freighter over to the Mandalorians. They've been "guests" (read: Prisoners/Mercenary Forces for) Clan Skirata, with the group's Failed Jedi having finally kicked the bottle and is learning Lightsaber Techniques and Force Training from Lord Venku Skirata, head of House and Clan Skirata.
The rest of the group are happy to be paid (the Rebellion being notoriously skinflint) and getting proper support from former slaves including Cloned Pleasure Slaves (known as "Femtroopers" as a back-handed compliment from the Jango Fett-based Clonetroopers) and even some of the Clone Wars relics going out and doing a few of the "easier" jobs (like manning Heavy Repeating Blaster positions that are nicely barricaded.). The Alderaanian Mechanic of the group is completely lost in "Opposite World" from his destroyed home, but does appreciate the artwork that the Mando'a put into things, even if it is killing.
Their last mission cemented the fact of War between the Rebel Alliance and the Jedi Protectorate, as they rescued Protectorate POWs (and stole some Imperial POWs) from a Rebel Base, which they then proceeded to blow up. ("These are simple soldiers with simple desires. And what do you think they desire most right now?" "To see that fuel refinery/POW camp blown up real good?" "Exactly."). |

They could be good, with Anakin trying to redeem himself, or they could be bad, with Luke sliding down the Dark Side Path like a bobsled team.
Star Wars isn't exactly a place for Grey. So, yeah. In the end, it'll be up to the group to determine how things are going to go. |

How the group acts will be how things will work out for the Jedi Protectorate. The group themselves get to choose if they're working for the Light or Dark. |

For those of us who don't play/know KOTOR, what is that light/dark slider, you are on about? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I thought it also affected the companions as well, but that isn't true. Must have misremembered or something. Anyhow, that's what I'm aiming at. The Lighter the group goes, the more Anakin Skywalker is saved. The Darker the group goes, the farther Luke Skywalker falls.
So far, the group is Low-Dark because of the actions of their Prototype Battledroid and the Jedi being "The Killer Of Wounded". |

At that rate, it may not be long till that jedi 'killer of wounded' himself slips to the dark side. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

He's recovering from that. Sobering up was a first step.
Actually, the first step was admitting he had a problem. However, that problem was a single half-bottle of scotch on a month-long hyperspace trip (they used the back-up hyperdrive by mistake.). |

So, yeah, last night was, well...
Sometimes a GM has to fudge some rolls, because, well, I'm glad I decided that it is exceptionally rare for a Capital Ship to blow up all at once, but is chipped away a piece at a time.
But, having the whole group invested in capital ship combat may, or may not, be as interesting as I thought. |

Capital ship combat sounds cool in theory, but I imagine it would get pretty tedious every time a ship ends up in combat. Tons of rolls...
I remember in one game I played in, one of the other players ended up in command of a Rebel Nebulon-B... The thing was a bookkeeping nightmare. I'm pretty sure he ended up having to dedicate everything to just keeping the ship stocked and maintained. _________________ RR

Just as bad is the mass combat that the group is going to find itself in on Ryloth as their fleet Admiral is now dead and the Ground Commander is going to have to command the fleet above the planet.
Guess who has the only military experience as a commander in the entire fleet?
The Failed Jedi, recently weened off the bottle where he has been spending the last 20-or-so years.
At least he'll be able to use the awesome command speeder the group stole just before they left the Rebel Alliance. |
