Something I'm really looking forward to...
On Saturday, August 24th, a local theater that has been beautifully restored to its full classic art deco glory, will be screening a Star Wars original trilogy marathon. I know what I want for my birthday.
The event listing. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

My browser settings don't like that web page for some reason, but theatrical trilogizing? Yeah! _________________ *

I'd love to go to this, but Redding, California is a little bit out of my way.... _________________ Sutehp's RPG Goodies
Only some of it is for D6 Star Wars.
Just repurchased the X-Wing and Tie Fighter flight sim games. I forgot how much I missed them. |

Understandable. Redding is out of the way for a lot of things unless you live there, or just happen to be driving up or down the west coast.
But hey, I have my ticket (mom knows what I want for my birthday). _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

Awesome! I checked out the event page in Safari. You're going to party like it's 1997! |
LOL! Since they're saying it's the originals (not specifying whether it's the OT or the Special Editions), I may be partying like it's 1977, 1980 and 1983 all in the same night. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Most theaters are digital nowadays. When my wife threw me a surprise birthday party for my 40th birthday, she had rented an auditorium in a movie theater and we watched Raiders of the Lost Ark that was played from a normal DVD copy. At your trilogy event, they will probably play the blu-ray editions. That's what the Star Wars in Concert show I saw in recent years was.
But by saying 1997, I wasn't referring to which edition. I was referring to the likely last time you saw any version of these films in the theater. Theatrical Star Wars is better than watching them at home. _________________ *

I guess we'll see. I just read an article today about screenings of a Lucas-approved pre-SE edition.
I ended up getting the VIP Pass, which comes with a commemorative lanyard, early seating, a pizza dinner between ESB and RotJ, and you get to keep your seat (the theater gets cleared between each showing except for VIP ticket holders). _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. And here I am, forty minutes early, and I am the line. I’d be posting this on FB, but I’m in the middle of a 30-day ban... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. A lot of fun. Amazing how seeing it in a huge, dark theatre recaptures that feeling of the first time. The main downside was that they screened the latest BluRay version, so there was subtle booing and hissing when Greedo shot first, when Hayden Christensen showed up as Anakin, etc. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. LOL. I should have reminded you to blink for Greedo's shot. It is literally blink and you'll miss it. _________________ *

It's all good. Getting to heckle the new stuff was all part of the fun, and I have software copies of the Revisited fan version of ANH and ESB to keep me warm. Have you looked at those yet? _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation.
