I've been hearing of this off and on for a while now; apparently a fan named Adywan has been doing an ambitious re-edit of the original trilogy, adding in a few little tidbits. A few examples...

The Hoth Ion Cannon sequence

The Destruction of the Echo Base Power Generator

I particularly like how there's more action in the sequences, such as the addition of AT-STs in the Hoth attack, and showing stormtroopers deploying by drop-line from the AT-AT. The Ion Cannon sequence adds a bit more drama by allowing one of the escorting X-Wings to be destroyed, and showing the survivor and transport jumping to hyperspace afterward.

I can only imagine this scrapes very close to the edge of copyright violation, but many of the altered clips have been up for years on YouTube, and from what I can gather, Adywan has done complete fan edits of both ANH and ESB, and is currently working on RotJ. I've seen bits and pieces of the ANH video, particularly the Battle of Yavin, where he adds a LOT more TIE fighters - as well as some more space combat - to the battle itself.

Is this something anyone else has heard of? What are your thoughts?

Had a chance to see his New Hope version. A lot of work was put into this project.

Take a look at the list of changes for ANH

I liked very much "Enhanced the Falcon escaping Tatooine to be more visually dynamic." - he took some Falcon maneuvers from TESB asteroid chase, so now Han makes some starship dodge not just flying in straight line.

Also Falcon vs TIE is much better.

Here's his version of TESB dinner scene. Yes, blaster deflection is shown Smile

Any idea where to find the ANH version? I've got ESB, and I understand he's still working on RotJ.

EDIT: Never mind, I just found a copy.

EDIT: Dubbed in Russian. Back to square one.
