I saw the pilot. It's a total RPG adventure.
In fact, it reminded me a lot of my "birth of the rebellion" campaign.
If you are looking for adventure ideas, this show will be perfect.
They are pretty much an RPG party.
As for the pilot, I liked it. The animation is a little weak, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Strong OT vibe throughout, which I appreciated.
Overall, b+.
For the RPG it is a must watch for adventure ideas. |

I just saw it, too. Aside from the weak CG, it was pretty good. It felt like Star Wars. _________________ "I still wouldn't have a roll for it - but that's just how I roll." |

So have they started it up as a weekly series at this point? What day/night and time is it on? _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

They have released the pilot online early; it will TV-premiere on Oct. 3rd.
I dug it. The writing/dialogue is clearly a little simplistic for the younger market, but the style and look were fantastic. _________________ Star Wars: Marvels, the audio drama: www.nolinecinemas.com

I watch it on xfinity. It airs every Friday.
I think Ezra is insufferable. Otherwise, I think it has a very Star Wars feel to it. _________________ "I still wouldn't have a roll for it - but that's just how I roll." |

For someone so frequently compared to Aladdin, he does lack a bit of the latter's charisma... I'm hoping it'll kind of be his story arc. _________________ Star Wars: Marvels, the audio drama: www.nolinecinemas.com

I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for it, but I just saw an ad last night saying it airs on Disney XD. The date was something like 10/13, which was a little too far out for my DVR to set up a recording for it. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

If you have xFinity onDemand, then you should be able to watch it on your computer. _________________ "I still wouldn't have a roll for it - but that's just how I roll." |

I don't know for sure, but if you've got Xfinity On Demand (as I do), you could probably also watch it on your TV (via On Demand), too, though they might wait until it's actually aired to make it available there. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

So it seems you can only watch it online if you have a certain TV channel. I have a bunch of Disney channels, but I'd rather wait for the TV broadcast than internet. This is what I've been able to gather.
The official TV world premier of Star Wars Rebels is on The Disney Channel (DIS/DISHD) this Friday 10/3 at 9:00 PM EDT. It's the first two episodes in a one-hour presentation called "Spark of Rebellion" (I & II). My DVR is set to record it. I imagine it will probably be rebroadcast several times on different days and times.
Then the following Monday 10/6 will re-broadcast Spark of Rebellion on Disney XD (DXD), I think at 8:00 PM EDT, and this will become its normal channel and night. Monday 10/13 (I think 8:00 or 9:00) will have the next new half-hour episode in the series, and so on.
The DVR picked up a couple shorts made from the show. Although I'll view every episode first before approving it for my son to view, I did let my son watch the shorts with me. The first one featured the droid Chopper and had my son laughing (I thought it was a bit amusing). I'm disappointed that they are using the same unrealistic animation as The Clone Wars. (Why is everyone's nose long and skinny? Why not at least try to make it more realistic instead of intentional "stylistic" artistic design choices?)
That being said, I'm cautiously optimistic that Rebels will be better than TCW. It features original characters instead of film characters, so hopefully it won't start out hopelessly in violation of film canon. Please no Ahsoka Tano! And even if they eventually retell the origin of the Rebel Alliance, it's got to be better than the ridiculous travesty of the Force Unleashed version. _________________ *

Truer words were never spoken. Hopefully if we meet Mon Mothma or Bail Organa in this show, they won't be wimpy cowards that need an external force to convince them to rebel... _________________ Star Wars: Marvels, the audio drama: www.nolinecinemas.com
