Armor Familiarity:

Some military units like the imperial stormtroopers or the clone troopers of the
grand army of the republic more or less used armor all the time.
This applies especially to stormtroopers who rarely was without their
white plastoid.

I am not sure how to apply it, but I am thinking it could be something
in the line of 5C pr level, and you can reduce the armor penalty by
1 pip each time you pay, until the armor penalty is zero.

However, maybe making it a special ability or something similar
Maybe even as a skill of sort

Any thoughts and imput would be welcomed

I have it as a special ability that can be earned by my players.

Which makes sense in a Mandalorian based game.

Like some of the other talents and techniques in my game, you pay CP s for opportunities to learn it.

Honestly, I’d like to see a lot more special abilities like this to offset the power creep on Force Sensitive PCs...

ATM I have Armor Proficiency as an advanced skill. For each 1D in the base skill it removes 1 pip of Dex penalty. Stormtroopers (in my SWU trained since childhood in armor) have AP 1D and then a specialization on top of that for their type's specific type of trooper. So a standard stormtrooper would have AP 1D and AP: Standard Stormtrooper armor at 2D, so wearing that armor their Dex penalty is reduced to -1, and wearing any other suit of armor would reduce the Dex penalty by 1 pip.

I consider the base skill something that takes years of armor experience to gain. In my SWU it is rare for anyone to have more than 1D in the base AP since most people that have it will specialize in one specific suit of armor beyond that, but that doesn't mean it is impossible for someone to have the base AP as 2D or higher. A PC would a background of wearing armor could start with AP 1D (plus even a specialization) if it made sense in their background.

A part of my system involved restatting all the suits of armor, including breaking the components down into helmet, armor, and body glove (physical and energy bonuses and Dex and Per penalties of each). I haven't thought about it a while so I'm not sure I won't tweak it more, but I'll get back into it by this summer.

In sparks, we use a similar method. 3cp base +1 per D of the armor, to buy it down 1 pip. BUT its for that 'specific suit'. Ergo going from -2d down to nada, would be 6 sessions, at 5cp, 5cp, 5cp, 4cp, 4cp and 4cp.. for 27cp overall..
Costly but do-able.

Thanks. It can make for scarier bounty hunters or stormies, when they are familiar with their armors, they take no penalties.. BUT this rule, allows PC's to become just as bad-@$$.
