That's not actually an "error" message, but I'm glad you brought that up. That's based on admin site settings where I can specify the time frames. Sometime since I took over the site, I went in and lowered that to 3 seconds. I don't remember what it was set on before (10 seconds maybe?), but I was getting frustrated by Searching for something yielding no results, then me going back to slightly edit my Search parameters (like quickly remove one word) and trying to Search again but getting that message and having to wait. Now 3 seconds is faster than I can re-search for something.
So it being only 3 seconds now means you shouldn't be getting that message too often anymore. The only way I've gotten it since I lowered the time frame is when my personal internet has a slow-down and I accidentally click one of those links twice in the same 3-second period. Most of the time, my internet is moving too fast for me to click it twice before it takes me there the first time. _________________ *

Yes, it was briefly yesterday at that time. This is what my web provider advised yesterday: ""Yesterday we had a network issue which as been corrected, today was just for some brief fix on your server, the web service was down maybe 10min or so."
Overall the service has been very good this past year, but I appreciate anyone letting me know about any issues, even after the fact. Thanks. _________________ *

Coolness. At least they told you about it, rather than waited till you asked. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

That's something that does irk me off about cable/internet providers. TOO many it seems, do NOT send out an alert/email to their customers, saying "hey everyone, at 1am on XYZ day, we will have our systems down for 2-3 hours for scheduled upgrades".
They just kill everything, making us wonder what the hell's going on, then claim "Oh we just did routine maintenance" afterwards... _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I'm sure there is some truth to that in general, but I'm one year in and my web hosting service never intentionally interrupts my service for scheduled maintenance, so they must have a way to do maintenance without taking everyone down. The issues Tuesday and Wednesday were unplanned issues. The Tuesday issue was a network issue that affected all clients, but it was brief. (As soon as I found out about, it was over before I could even report it.) The Wednesday issue was only limited to the clients on the same server as the Pit, and it was brief. (I reported it but it was already in the works to be fixed.) The issues were fixed faster than they could have sent out a message to everyone effected anyway.
I'm lucky that my personal home internet provider is overall reliable and I hardly ever have issues. About once a year I'll experience a service outage of several hours. It is usually during my work day. I work at home in a completely virtual environment, so can't do my job at all without internet. _________________ *

As i am a night owl, sleeping in generally till around noon, and going to bed around 3-4am, when they do the 1am outages for their upgrades, it always seems to affect me. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Couldn't log in at 0900 CST. The domain was there, but none of the pages would display. _________________ Aha! |

Thanks for reporting it. I wasn't home at that time.
My web host told me that as a result of the network outage they had on Tuesday, they have had to introduce improvements into the system here and there that may cause brief hiccups in the service. They are trying to be as unobtrusive as possible.
Do you now how long the outage was for you, and was it that you didn't try again until much later and it worked fine? _________________ *

I tried a few times from 0900 - 0930 with the same result. After that I didn't try again until that night and it worked fine. Thought it might help your troubleshooting. _________________ Aha! |

I had an issue late last night (Pacific Time), but it resolved itself after a few minutes. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.
