Millennium Falcon Owner's Workshop Manual
YT-1300 Corellian Freighter Owners' Workshop Manual
I received the new book yesterday and briefly looked it over. It is thicker so at first it seems like it has more content, but actually there are the exact same number of pages. The pages themselves are thicker (so a little more sturdier, not a bad feature for a reference book). And comparing content, the new book has all the same sections as the old book (and in the same order), but the page #s don't match up exactly because the new book has more here and less there.
The new book is literally the Canon version of the original Legends book. Which means a lot of things from the EU have been recanonized by this book, like the YT-1300 variations and the rest of the YT series of ships featured in the first book. And of course, this book refers to Solo, TFA and TLJ and removes some of the Legends history of the ship.
Some of the images and graphics are the same, but a lot of them are different. There are just enough differences that I think I will have to keep the original edition, so I'll have both. They are both pretty cool.
I noticed an issue that continues with the new edition. The YT-1300p (passenger variant) has a low cargo capacity of only 25 metric tons. The YT-1300f (freight variant) is 100 tons. The YT-1300fp is stated to serve as a better balance between space for freight and passengers, yet it has a cargo capacity of 100 tons, the same as the freight variant. However there is an update to the Falcon's designation. It would seem that in Legends, the Falcon is a modified 'fp', but in Canon the Falcon is modified 'f'. But I think that may have first been entered into canon by TFA cross-sections book.
For anyone else who has picked it up, what do you think of the book? _________________ *
