|
I updated the write-up for the blastsword so it now makes sense in comparison to other like equipment and how it is designed to work. Adding new information and cleared up the wording of the game mechanics.
Adumari Blastsword v2.0
Type: Blaster blade
Scale: Character
Skill: Melee combat: vibroblade
Difficulty: Moderate
Ammo: 10
Cost: 600
Availability: 3, R
Damage: STR+2D (Max: 6D) and Special (4D energy)
Game Notes: The blastsword operates like a vibroblade but is designed to discharges a single blaster bolt with a successful thrust maneuver (the GM may decide this is a +5 difficulty check or requires a 6 on the Wild Die). The bolt automatically hits the target and is considered a separate attack when calculating damage. Newer versions of this sword have a stun setting.

From what i remember of the novel, don't these swords only 'discharge' the energy bolt, if the swords TIP hits?
Also, is the "Ammo" its power pack? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Good catch, I posted the version without the final write-up. I have corrected the posting now. _________________ Don Diestler

One little quibble about the wording:
The "+5 difficulty check"? Does this apply to the weapon's base difficulty, or against the target's melee parry? And, does the attacker have to declare in advance (and thus risk missing all together) or is it a bonus that kicks in automatically if the roll is high enough?
Your mention of the wild die implies that it is a bonus, but the requirement of a thrust attack implies the necessity to declare in advance. |

I'd say the attacker has to declare in advance, and beat EITHER the base diff of the weapon +5, or if the opponent parries, his roll +5. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I put both in as suggestions, allowing the individual GM to apply it however they wanted because I knew there would be fifteen different ways or homebrew rules people would think of. _________________ Don Diestler

I should have known you consult a magic 8-ball to guide your replies here! I need to get one so I can respond to you properly.

Some things do make a bit more sense, now. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.
