Say you were running a storyline with one of the PCs, storyline=PC is working as a bounty hunter, but is finding out he is a jedi.
If he did something like, tell everyone else to run while he drew their fire and escaped, would he become the blue ghost? |

What's a blue ghost? (Aside for the obvious, a ghost that is blue.)
If you mean like what Obi-wan and co. do in Episodes 5&6, then most likely no. |

If you want to go by the films, unless he had been trained or had been studying how to become one, then no. |

Yeah. From what I've seen, you need a few seconds to turn ghostly, both Yoda and Obi-wan had time to meditate before they died, but Anakin's a bit tricky. |

If you really want him to be able to become a force ghost, go ahead! But if you want to keep with the movies, he should have trained for it, or have been researching it on his own like Qui Gon Jinn. Have you watched RotS yet? (Not trying to be mean, just asking!) |

You might also consider that in the Star Wars universe, at least for Force Sensitive people, there is an afterlife. It also seems that Force sensitive people can learn how to appear in the world of the living. Take the two ideas together and it's possible that the character could learn how to appear in the world of the living even after dying.
Which basically amounts to an excuse for ruling on it however you please. |

Yea, ive seen all the movies, original trilogy i watched the new version though.
What im trying to get at is, if the character hadn't gotten to complete the storyline before he sacrificed himself to save his teammates, would it be epic enough to keep him around? |

If you want to bring him back, go ahead. You could keep him as a regular ghost, too. |

Yes, if that's what you want. Is the player planning on making another character, or does he want to play as a ghost? I think I read somewhere about allowing that too. |

No idea on that. I think he wanted to advance as that character, so another question,
Would a Force Ghost be able to build skill? |

I don't think so, I'll have to see if I can find that article on Force ghosts to tell you. Give me a moment! |

Oh well, maybe I read it on another forum somewhere. I don't think they can though. I do remember it saying that they can't affect things in the physical world though, so none of their Force powers will allow them to do anything unless they use them against other 'Netherworld' beings. |

If the person was not a Jedi yet, then he cannot become a force ghost. Most Jedi never become force ghosts. The only examples of Jedi who became force ghosts are Jedi who were master level. Now, according to the novelization version of the Episode 3 becoming a force ghost was explained; I can't recall it correctly. Perhaps if you are lucky, or ask nicely Ars_Fortuna will post that info.
Now, as to your PC, if you allowed the character to become a force ghost despite all the reasons he shouldn't then yes, he could continue to gain and spend CP's; but the skills that could be advanced would be very limited. Practicly only knowledge skills, as he could not affect the enviroment around him with normal skills. He could however instruct someone on the proper way to repair the hyperdrive, ect.
Also, remember that Jedi who are force ghosts don't want to linger around in this world just "willy-nilly". They do have somewhere better to go and want to go there. They stay behind to finish what they could not in life; and then depart.
If the PC does not yet have force skills then why would he become a force ghost? Unless it's a vital plot piece, why? |
