Very nice size, 350m ship that is shown on the D6 holocron site. Looking for stats and background of ship. Thinking a 350m capital that looks like a small Star Destroyer has to have something written about it.

Here you go.

I didn’t come up with the drawing, but I couldn’t find stats for it either, so I made my own. There’s some embellishment; I folded it in with the Type 2 Frigate from the Biggs Darklighter comic mini-series.

Thank you!! I was using a not as good stat wise but carries 24 TIEs Carrack stats, since it is the same size, 350M. Speed 6, maneuver 1d+1, hull 4D, with the standard imp line of 30/50/100 for sensors, a stat I use to drive the story and give use of Fire Control.

You show a group of players a picture of a Carrack (a design and story I like) but the lines and overall look, not so good. The pic of little Star Destroyer as my boys call it works much better in setting a scene.

Zarn the Imperial patrol frigate is a Nebulon B, one of my favorite ships. Thanks for the pic I hit that site and ?Fractal? for many pics.

Oh sorry for confusion. The 2nd link is a Nebulon B (modified), page 91-92 in Cracken’s Threat Dossier. A great ship I think.

The pic/1st link is from deviant art site, some great pics and RPG help there. Sorry I was not clearer.

I addressed that in my write-up. Wookieepedia got their information from the WOTC write-up, and WOTC presumably just made up some numbers. The problem is that their version is vastly overpowered, more along the lines of a medium cruiser than a frigate. When writing up mine, I did my best to make it comparable to other frigates, as though the word Frigate actually has meaning other than "something you call a warship."

On top of that, a II-Class Frigate is a highly unimaginative class name for a military that loves giving its warships grandiose and threatening names. The only basis for the Type II is the Darklighter comic series, and canonically, the ship's name was the Rand Ecliptic (see the original Star Wars novelization, although no mention was made of what exactly the Rand Ecliptic was). So I went with the idea that the Ecliptic-class is named for the ecliptics of the myriads of stars that make up the Empire.

I fit the Type II in by saying that there were three subtypes of the Ecliptic: Type I, Type II and Type III, with the primary differences being the docking bays. The Type I, as pictured has a single ventral docking bay that is big enough to hold a medium freighter, but it can't launch its fighters if the bay is occupied. The Type II is an attempt to correct this by replacing the bay with the four smaller TIE launch bays on the flanks, giving it greater fighter capacity, but cutting into its ability to accommodate larger craft. The Type III is a combination of the two, with the ventral bay and two TIE Launch bays on the flanks (one on each side).

I like the concept but 72 TIE's? Seems overpowered for size given. How about The Gladiator class? Little more in way of background and support. Seems like some stuff is closer to even with what other D6 stats are. Or for that matter what do you think of the Gladiator and both variants? Something to support or is the Pocket Cruiser or Frigate II better?

Based on the greater detail provided in the Star Wars Armada game, here is my version of the Gladiator, which also folds the Broadside in as a variant of the Class.

As to which is better, it likely depends what you intend to use it for.

Sorry, better was a poor choice of words. I meant as in balanced to the game, supported by canon, most common type used, iconic or the benchmark. That is "better" to me. Thanks for the link, stats look balanced for 500m ship that should be a best in class type ship.

I picture the Star Frigate as something of a long-range multi-role warship that can serve as an escort for larger ships or be deployed on its own to patrol areas that don't rate the presence (and expense) of a Star Destroyer group. The Gladiator, on the other hand, would be more in keeping with the classic definition of the Destroyer (as distinct from the Star Wars definition).
