I remember reading a similar article from a few years ago that had the same premise: that WEG kept the Star Wars franchise alive between Return of the Jedi and Zahn's Heir to the Empire novel.

If I find it again, I'll link it.

EDIT: On the same website Shootingwomprats linked to above, here's another tangentally Star Wars-related article about Nathan Fillion getting Alan Tyduk (K-2SO) into playing Halo and all the ensuing aftermath. A must-read for gamers like us.
