Over on one of my dnd sites, someone brought up the question "has anyone seen stats' done for the various bugs from starship troopers, ported over FROM that rpg, into the rules for other games..
Which made me think. Has anyone seen any for swd6? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I have some D6 stats for some of the Bugs I got from somewhere
online, but I can't remember where from.
I'll see if I can dig them up or find the site again

I wholeheartedly support the continuity-migration of Starship Trooper style Bugs into SW-D6.
Hopefully, you can find that brain bug, Xain Arke! |

And if we need a story justification for this new race of bugs, we can just say they're heavily mutated Yuzhaan Vong thud bugs and razor bugs that got sentient, overthrew their Yuzhaan Vong overseers and stole all their bio-tech.
It might even make for a better story than the Vong as extra-galactic invaders!

Only some of it is for D6 Star Wars.
Just repurchased the X-Wing and Tie Fighter flight sim games. I forgot how much I missed them. |

Okay I found them. I think they may have come from Freddy B's site
(name escapes me). I have no idea if these are anywhere near accurate
or even close, they are as I found them.

Heh. Finding my own brain would be ideal Telsij ...but alas...
stats:
Arachnid
The Arachnid is an extremely dangerous creature with the ability to rip
men apart. It mainly uses its giant forward pincer claws to trap and kill
prey (some prey may include human beings).
Type: Extremely Dangerous Giant Bug
DEXTERITY: 1D
PERCEPTION: 3D
Search: 3D+1
Sneak: 3D+2
Hide: 3D+2
STRENGTH: 4D
Special Abilities:
- Pincer Claws: STR+2D
- Limbs: STR+1D
Scale: Character
Move: 18
Height: 3.7 meters
Flying Arachnid
The Flying Arachnid is pretty much the same as the Arachnid except it flies.
DEXTERITY: 1D
PERCEPTION: 3D
Search: 3D+1
Sneak: 3D+2
Hide: 3D+2
STRENGTH: 4D
Special Abilities:
- Slicer Claws: STR+4D
- Flying
Scale: Character
Move: 18 (Walking) 25 (Flying)
Height: 3.8 meters
I have no idea why the flying Bug is a tiny bit taller, protruding
wings perhaps?
Anyway, hope you guys get some use out of these

So, 4d str, but no brawl skill? Wow..
But it does imo form a base for them. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Strength seems WAY too low. A starting bounty hunter has 4D STR. A ten foot tall arachnid should be more like 6D, considering a single one can take out several armed troopers before going down. |

Don't Bounty Hunters have 3D+2 STR as a starting Template? Also, most of the Troopers killed by Bugs would be considered non-player characters that recieve 6D less Attribute dice, so more like Bug 4D STR+1D or 2D (Natural Weapon bonus damage) vs. Trooper 2D STR+1D armour (blast vest & helmet)
That said however, I don't disagree with you WillTasker that the stats probably need reworking

Plus it looked like they could attack 4 or so foes at the same time, one with each of 2 of their raised legs, one with their 'pincer jaw' and one with those 2 thrusting claw like things.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

It should be strong, but keep in mind, it's doing 6D damage per hit with it's jaws and 5D damage with the legs. But, one of the flaws with the WEG system, is that how strong a creature is, is directly proportionate to how hard it is to kill.
Now, the infantry fighting them were using automatic slug throwers. In the SWU someone should be able to at least hurt the bug with a heavy blaster (5D). I'd say raise up lifting to reflect how much they can lift, and up their brawling to let them make multiple attacks, since a lot of times they're not completely ripping someone in half in a single move, they tend to hit/rend something multiple times while they rip it limb from limb. _________________ RR

Heck, they don't even have a brawl stat listed there.. Just a Str rating and the damage each attack mode does. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Haha! I would gladly see a carbon copy of the Bugs introduced as a revised iteration of the Vong. There would even be potential for introducing the satire of the film, as the Fascist elements could be retained and tied to the Empire having subjugated the bugs: Now that the Empire is defeated, the Bugs begin to come out of hiding and though the New Republic would first see the Bugs as a threat to wage war against, it's only after a long campaign of costly battles that they get a Jedi or Force Sensitive close enough to the bug homeworld to commune with the Brain Bug, to discover that it's afraid / that the Bugs too are just defending themselves, etc -- and perhaps come to some negotiate kind of peace treaty -- rather than the satirical propaganda-style finale we in the Starship Troopers movie -- Caution: 1990's SPOILERS! |
