|
|
So, there's been an image floating around Facebook of the Death Star and a Bog Cube staring at each other across empty space. Of course, being a geek, I start debating with myself...
Could the Death Star annihilate a Borg Cube? Would the Cube's undoubted resistance to other blaster-weapons (acquired through preliminary encounters with other Galactic species) translate to defending against the Superlaser?
(We're going to assume that the shields of Star Wars function like the shields of Star Trek and prevent the "Beam a proton torpedo onto their bridge" trick). _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

I'd say the DS would destroy 2-3 borg cubes straight out before the cubes assimilate.. IF that's even possible.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Yeah, I highly doubt a Borg Cube would be able to assimilate/absorb a planetary superlaser.
Hell, Species 8247 gave the Borg a brutal beatdown and curbstomped two cubes at once in 5 seconds when they first met, remember? If the Borg couldn't absorb that, then forget about absorbing the Death Star's superlaser.... _________________ Sutehp's RPG Goodies

Now the bigger issue, would a borg drone be able to assimilate / block a lightsaber, force lightning and the like?? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Now that is a good question...
I can well visualize a Borg drone using its personal shield to deflect lightsaber strikes. Whether that's plausible, however.... _________________ Sutehp's RPG Goodies

But after how many slices would it take before their personal shields have adapted? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Well, if the first lightsaber slice winds up decapitating the poor drone in question, that drone's shields aren't going to be activating at all.... _________________ Sutehp's RPG Goodies

No, but as we've seen in a # of trek episodes, what kills one, often won't kill others after X many have died.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Quite true, I forgot about that. The Borg do love their swarm attacks, don't they?
