So I have been looking into Ventress and Ahsoka for something I might do in a Star Wars Rewrite Campaign(I know, I have commited the most evil of crimes ) I have been working on for a few years now and found out that 1) Ventress's species is no longer Rattataki(Canon or Legends), she is Dathomirian as Rattataki no longer exist in Canon.
This has to make all those people who swear to the Heavens that Disney recognizes SWTOR as canon really mad, no one likes to be wrong!
This leaves so many questions in my head about what I should do with my campaign now. BLAST YOU DISNEY!!! |

Technically, Rattataki are still canon...kind of
In the Clone Wars Cartoon flashback of Ventress' past, she was raised on Rattatak by the bounty hunter Hal'Sted and then, after his death, by Jedi Master Ky Narec.
While we don't actually see any Rattataki on screen, their planet IS seen, so you could extrapolate that whatever natives are there, are Rattataki, even if Ventress isn't one anymore.

Perhaps there's a relationship Ratataki:Dathomiri::Iridonians:Zabrak? IOW, Ratataki are a specific colonial offshoot of the Dathomiri? _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

But the dathomiri are human. The Rakata from all i have seen are almost Mon-cal like, but with more bulbous heads and their eyes on stalks coming from the head's sides.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

What Zarn said.
I did the same thing. Because, along with only having 9 planets, Star Wars also only has like, 10 syllables.
(An aside: Years ago, I was into a game called Fading Suns... heavily Dune influenced, if you're not familiar. A major portion of the game involves the various noble houses.... Hawkwood, Decados, Li-Halan, al-Malik, and Hazat. At one point, I was chatting with one of the developers, and he mentioned that, initially, he had all five laid out, but only names for Hawkwood and Decados... the others were just described by characteristics. Someone else named the other three, and he just refered to them as the LaMaHa houses, because that was the only syllables they bothered with) _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. The guy with the big brain for a head is a Siniteen, which are apparently also called Rattataki according to canon.
Also think I will just ignore Canon in most instances for my campaign since it's quite the rewrite and many things will need to be addressed, as I have found out the hard way lol. |
