I'm making a few pregens for my upcoming game with the library teenagers. I decided, to ease them into it, to make them all human members of the Rebel Alliance. We're probably going to do Pirates of Prexiar, since I'm familiar with that one.
What types would you suggest be in such a group?
I currently have:
Close Combat Specialist (vibroblade and carbine)
Demolitions Special (grenades, mines, and carbine)
Sniper (Light Repeating Rifle as a sniper weapon)
Pilot (Blaster Pistol and a lot of Mechanical) _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

Heavy Weapons for fire support. Maybe a light repeating blaster / micro-grenade launcher in an under-over configuration? _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Based on the templates from the SpecForce Handbook...
Infiltrator for the Close Combat Specialist.
Pathfinder for the Sniper, as well as for scouting the path to the target if in rough terrain.
Heavy Weapons Specialist for Fire Support.
Tech Specialist for Sabotage and Demolitions
Pilot for... well, Piloting.
Maybe rounded out with one or two Urban or Wilderness Combat Specialists for grunt-types. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

I don't have the SpecForces handbook, but just the names give me enough to go on. Thanks. _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

You may want a Transporter for vehicles. Maybe a "Face" person as well. If you're looking for inspiration for this, watch Predator again =) _________________ Don Diestler

LOL.
I wound up settling on:
Close Combat Specialist
Sniper
Demolitions Specialist
Pilot
Pathfinder
Heavy Weapons Specialist
Infiltrator
That gives 7 available PCs. I'm letting them choose to be Force Sensitive or not, and figure I'll give everyone 3 Character Points to play with. _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

Force-sensitivity for commando-assassin types? Granted, they're not Jedi (at least as far as I know), but doesn't assassination and striking from surprise fall under the no-no's that Jedi must refrain from to keep from falling to the Dark Side? _________________ Sutehp's RPG Goodies
Only some of it is for D6 Star Wars.
Just repurchased the X-Wing and Tie Fighter flight sim games. I forgot how much I missed them. |

They're not necessarily assassin-types, save for the sniper. Combat types, yes, but not all assassins. _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

A light repeating blaster as a sniper's weapon? IMO that's the purvue of a heavy weapon specialist..
For sniper rifles, if you just have to stay with blasters, go with the A280
Quote: | Model: BlasTech A280 Blaster Rifle
Type: Blaster rifle
Scale: Character
Skill: Blaster: blaster rifle
Ammo: 100
Cost: 1,400
Availability: 1, R
Range: 4-40/120/300
Damage: 5D+2
Source: Rebel Alliance Sourcebook (pages 99-100), Arms
and Equipment Guide (pages 15-16) |
Or the blast-tech DLT-19
Quote: | Model: BlasTech DLT-19 Blaster Rifle
Type: Blaster rifle
Scale: Character
Skill: Blaster: blaster rifle
Ammo: 100
Cost: 1,300
Availability: 1, R
Range: 5-50/180/350
Damage: 5D |
The latter has better range than a reg blaster rifle, but the former has more of the sniper feel.
Quote: | Close Combat Specialist
Sniper
Demolitions Specialist
Pilot
Pathfinder
Heavy Weapons Specialist
Infiltrator |
Since you have the infiltrator, rather than 'doubling up' with the close combat spec, why not go with say a Scanner/com tech.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

leader
marksman
grenadier
rifleman
beyond this each individual will have several secondary specialties. examples include: B&E, medic, comms, information, linguist, survival, acquisitions, etc... _________________ Aim low, shoot high
