|
|
Going through the aliens books several times, there are very few 'aquatic races' based on turtles or tortoises.. Heck the only turtle like race i can even find, are the Kriek, which with their listed stuff makes them a rather poor choice for PCs..
So what i was thinking of was this..
Xodax.
Dex 1d - 3d
Know 2d+2 - 4d+2
Mech 1d+2 - 3d+2
Per 2d+1 - 4d+1
Str 1d+2 - 3d+2
Tech 2d - 4d
special abilities:
Hardened shell, provides Str+1d+2 phys, +1d+1 energy as long as the Xodax is living. If dead, the shell still acts as +2 phys & energy.
Expert chefs and horticulturalists, gains a +1d on rolls involving cooking, farming, herbal knowledge and culture rolls involving cooking/food.
Pacifists, due to their nature, Xodax usually spend most of a combat enshrined in their shell, rarely coming out unless to move. When in said shell, they gain 90% cover bonus. However they can take combat skills, just at double cost for offensive and regular cost for defensive.
Diet, due to their size and shell, they need to consume double the normal human amount of nourishment to keep their shells intact. if they have to go to half (or quarter) rations, they require a stamina roll once every 48 hours, starting out at very easy and raising up by +4 per additional stamina check. Failure causes the shell to lose +1 pip of protective value, down to +2 value phys/energy. It takes THREE times the normal food intake, to regain a +1 pip of lost protection.
Story factor - due to their home planet being made uninhabitable after their sun became a blue giant several centuries ago, the Xodax have spent the interceding years traveling around, offering their cook services to whom ever will hire them. Also due to their low breeding rate, they are slowly dying off, unless they can locate a new home planet...
Due to their pacifistic nature, any who can learn the force, can only ever acquire healing, sensing and obfuscating powers. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk!

There was a turtle race in D6 Space's aliens handbook. It might give you some ideas... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

What would their Move be? I can only imagine their limbs are short and stumpy like a RW turtle, so as to be more easily retracted into the shell, but that same adaptation would drastically cut into fast movement. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Are you picturing them as quadruped or biped? Or maybe they switch off, like a bear or gorilla, in that they move on all fours, but can use their forelimbs like arms? _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Biped most of the time, but they can go down on all fours (+2 move when doing so). _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

As a rule of thumb, tortoises tend to be land-dwelling and poor or non-swimmers, while turtles tend to be at least amphibious and usually good swimmers.
Turtles also have very interesting qualities when it comes to their organs - it seems senescence does not affect their internal organs, which is interesting from a longevity standpoint. |

With their mental resistance to force powers, i wonder if that would keep them from being force sensitive or even force users themselves? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Direct quote from the wiki: " Although some Yinchorri had the ability to use the power of the Force, none had become a Jedi as of 28 ABY.[3]" Is the last sentence of the 'Yinchorri in the Galaxy' stub. |

I'm in.
Are they fighting a demented Iskalloni with a Gamorrean and a Bitthævrian lieutenant, possibly a mad Columi as an occasional ally, and all while a misled Loag clan is doing all the fighting?
Can Marian Delario from Double Dragon be in it, as a Wroonian? |
