Wow! It's been ages since I've been back on here, but I'm glad the forums are still alive and well. With this, I figured I would unveil something from my Destiny Era setting: the freighter Far Horizon.

That's either a very, very large astromech droid or something at least the size of a PG-5 (probably bigger), or the measurement of being 42m in length is wrong.
Eyeballing it, I'd say what I'd call a heavy fighter or perhaps a fast courier would be about 20m long at most. And I'm having trouble with 200 metric tons of cargo capacity - unless it's a modular array or something that just isn't docked with it, I can't see where you could fit it.
That said, I think the design is very cool, and I'm liking the challenge to imagine some reason why there's very little or no visible weaponry on the ship (depending on whether the divot right below the cockpit is actually a weapons aperture or something relating to sensors). |

That astromechy thing is a turret. Look again, you can see protruding weapons (they're a little on the small side and don't appear to traverse vertically). |

Well paint me red and call me a Royal Guard. Would you look at that! You're right, of course.
I'm still not quite seeing the 200 metric tons of cargo capacity, though, but that being a turret makes much more sense. |

You've raised some very good points on the stats. I would say my rationale would be that it could haul more compact, yet heavier cargo (dense-alloys, or caches of small arms/explosives, hyper-pressurized gases/fuels). Part of the reason I set its present length to offset the lack of width. Additionally, miniaturization of traditionally larger components would allow more space for cargo.
Both of you are correct about the turret. While it utilizes a gunner, it can be set at a fixed forward or aft position and operated in the crew cabin.
Glad you liked it! There's more freighters on the way! |

Zarn: After some reflection on your suggestions, I thought it fit to reduce the IFST-21's cargo capacity, down to about 80 metric tons, along with its length, now shortened to 22 meters. I have stats for a vessel in work of comparative size, and the original capacity and length seemed a bit excessive. I appreciate your feedback! |
