the verpine hive mind has decided for species survival they should create colonies.
they found a way for holonet communications to relay verpine radio.
they want the chars to find a new asteroid field that is not in use that is in the life belt of a star.
then have the chars drop off holonet relays between Roche and the new asteroid belt. while keeping it from the empire's attention. |

Just poking holes...
Why does it need to be within the life belt of the star? Presumably, they'd use artificial heat & light (as much as they need) inside the asteroids, and would manufacture or import food there. What's wrong with, say, seeding an Oort cloud or Kuiper Belt?

nothing
but it would be more economical to be in the life belt less hearing costs.
also would possibly be more chances that something might be living there to bother the chars when they are surveying the belt |

Why does it have to be another asteroid field? Why can't it be something else? Another planet, a moon, space habitat, etc?
