Anyone like and/or used those NewsNet write-ups in the Star Wars Adventure Journals? I figured this would be the perfect place to generate and share our own. I have a couple that tie-in to my Destiny Era project for starters.

New Year Fete Week Launched in Imperial City
Imperial City, Coruscant
New Year Fete Week festivities unfolded in Imperial City today, with numerous floats and bands from across Imperial space. In the opening ceremony, 200 Crusader Twin Ion Engine fighters performed an elaborate fly-by with colorful smoke and fireworks launched, followed by a demonstration by elite pilots of the 181st Fighter Group in their Shadow T.I.Es.
A column of Imperial Knights headed up the parade, followed by the full armored division of walkers and stormtroopers from the Imperial Star Destroyer Baron Soontiir Fel. Hundreds of unique floats populated the rest of the line-up, ranging from an Imperial Navy entry from Bastion in the Outer Rim, to an ornate mobile spire contributed by Empress Teta in the Deep Core. The strength of the Empire was further represented in various specialty units, and participants from Imperial Chapters tasked conducting humanitarian aid on remote worlds. Overhead was a rare appearance of the Star Dreadnought Jagged Fel for the finale, with its last Fete Week entry occurring twelve standard years ago.
Prominent displays this year included one of only two signed copies of the “Empire for Peace” directive, the flight suit of the legendary Baron Soontiir Fel, and the signed memoirs of Grand Admiral Gilad Pellaeon. But what had stolen the show was an ancient Forcesaber recovered from a very recent archaeological find in Wild Space, the believed to be the sole remaining, fully-intact piece.
Observing this year from the Imperial Palace Palatial Balcony was Emperor Andon Fel, marking his first appearance in the last four years, and Galactic Federation Chief of State Jarral Nomo, invited as a special guest to this year’s festivities. And as tradition, the parade concluded with the Pliada di am Imperium, the official start of this year’s Imperial Fair, and with a passionate oration from Emperor Fel, praising the success and prosperity of the Empire, and also unveiling details about the much-discussed defensive battlestation code-named “Guardian Star.”

CEC Soon to Release Competition to the IFST-21
Coronet, Corellia
Corellian Engineering Corporation Chief Executive Officer Tann Rennis announced today that a new class of light freighter is currently in development, as the direct answer to the recently-released Incom/Frei-Tek IFST-21. The new line of freighter, dubbed the ZB-1000, is promised to haul an estimated weight ranging from 200 to 300 metric tons in cargo, to be fitted with the latest in sublight drive technology, along with a faster hyperdrive co-developed with Nubia Star Drive Incorporated.
The news comes as some relief to investors and shareholders, as share value in CEC stock had dropped nearly 20% within the past six standard months. CEC’s recent freighter sales has taken a slump, selling nearly 3,000 less ships than expected last quarter, while Incom/Frei-tek’s latest offering, on the other hand, has over 10,000 units and growing sold within the same timeframe. But it is believed that a foothold can be gained, as Incom/Frei-tek has an estimated 2,000 orders yet to be completed and fulfilled.
“We are confident that this new class of freighter can recapture the market and simultaneously provide the competitive edge that both corporate and independent shippers have been looking for,” CEO Tann Rennis said during the press conference. “The ZB-1000 will maintain that pinnacle standard of quality, reliability, and affordability that CEC is renowned for.”
As of yet, no pricing details and/or expected stock delivery or availability have been released.

House Organa-Solo Heir Named
New Aldera, New Alderaan
In a surprising turn of events for the New Alderaanian monarchy, Queen Wynn Organa-Solo announced today from the Organa estate that her youngest offspring, Gavin Organa-Solo, will become heir to the throne upon her passing. Speculation over whether or not a change would occur had transpired for several years, since the disappearance of the family’s older heir, Princess Leila Organa-Solo. But it wasn’t a proclamation that didn’t reflect a tinge of sadness. In our exclusive interview, Her Highness, Queen Wynn, spoke with us on a personal level.
“While I’m overjoyed that my son Gavin will one day ascend to the throne, with full confidence that he will fulfill his dutiful responsibilities to the Alderaanian people, I do so with a heavy heart. His sister, my daughter, Leila, is always on my mind and in my heart. I sincerely hope to find some sort of closure to my daughter’s disappearance. Every day since then, I’ve held out hope that she may be alive somewhere, and that I may be able to see her again. But my responsibilities require pragmatism, and New Alderaanians must know who will help guide their future direction.”
It has been over eight standard years since Princess Leila Organa-Solo was identified as a missing person. While planetary and galactic investigations have revealed little evidence regarding her mysterious disappearance, rumors persist of an individual matching her physical features operating as an independent space freighter operator in the Outer Rim Territories. All sources declined any personal interviews, or further comments.

Really, Solos?
What’s goin’ on, all you rogues and misfit spacers out there?
You saw the news out of New Alderaan, right? The whole “change of the heir” poodoo? That they never found their long-lost princess, and they need to fill the void in their hearts and the state, and this was the solution?
Heh. Like they think we already don’t know what happened. It’s as simple as this, tramps: Solo tenacity versus Organa regalia… and Solo blood won out.
If you haven’t heard (and how couldn’t you, since reading this, you obviously know about Cynabar)… young Leila’s out here: hauling “hot” goods, dodging customs, and breaking records. Word is she’s attempting to break the Yaga Minor blockade, since you know… Kessel ain’t around anymore. Living up to her ancestor’s name, and trying to surpass him.
Good for her! There are more than enough stodgy nobles in this galaxy as it is. And maybe it’s time someone reinvigorated that same fire and rebellious spirit that family had roots in to begin with.

I'm surprised you haven't offered write-ups like this to Womp Rat Press for Wild Space magazine. From what I hear, they still need a bit more content to get #3 off the ground. _________________ __________________________________

I have been in touch with the Shooting Womprats folks regarding a restart of the LOTF sourcebook and the Destiny Era project. Doing some work for Wild Space #3 is worth considering; I'll ask them the next time I talk with them. |

Tellandorf Defense Force requests NRDF Aid
Mesca City, Tellandorf
At 0834 Karlien Standard Time, Prime Minister Lenon appeared before Parliament today, amidst the arrival of two squadrons of X-Wing and B-Wing fighters from the New Republic Defense Force to Mesca Fighter Base, to clarify the rationale for hosting allied forces and to ease political tensions within the local government.
“In the wake of recent intelligence reports of a Dominion build-up from across the Borderland Regions, I have made a formal request to the New Republic Defense Force for support in the form of this short-term starfighter deployment,” Prime Minister Lenon stated. “This is not a step towards full New Republic membership or a basing agreement. This is an option of deterrence, to send a clear message to the Dominion that our sovereignty, as well as the rest of the sectors, is backed by our friends.”
These steps were believed taken due to recent reconnaissance images taken of the adjacent Pillidan system by the TDF’s own Prowler Squadron. The latest mission undertaken and reported by Commander Jonn Randii has shown that additional Imperial warships are moored in orbit of the second world in the system, an increase of three capital warships since the last recon mission one week ago. With relation to this, mysterious vessels dropping and reentering hyperspace have been observed over the mining operations of Dalta, and it is the TDF’s conclusion that the Imperial Dominion is conducting reconnaissance flights of its own, probing Tellandorf and Dalta’s defenses.
A measure is expected to be presented to the Tellandorf Parliament today to invoke and ratify the Article IV Defense Clause in the Compact of Free Association with the New Republic government, with legislation formally justifying the request for military assistance.

DISASTER/HAZARD ADVISORY FOR HOSNIAN SYSTEM
-GALACTIC EMERGENCY HOLONET TRANSMISSION, BOSS Node
This is an emergency warning dispatched to any and all starships enroute to the Hosnian star system.
Please cease all hyperspace and sublight travel to the Hosnian star system, effective immediately. The planet Hosnian Prime and worlds in orbiting positions three, four, and five have suffered a catastrophic disaster. Current projections estimate system causalities within the hundreds of billions. Only New Republic Starfleet and government medical and/or official humanitarian vessels are permitted to travel to and within the system as of this time.
In-system hazards are undetermined and incalculable at present, but expected to be immediately dangerous to life, health, and space vessel worthiness. Anomalies and distortions have also been detected along direct hyperspace pathways leading to the system. Redirect all space travel along this node of the Corellian Trade Spine, also effective immediately.
Additional updates to this advisory will be forthcoming and distributed as required.

The First Order Revealed!
For years, representatives of the New Republic refused to acknowledge the countless treaty violations invoked by the First Order, nor the threat it represents to the freedom and justice of millions of member worlds. With the horrific events that have unfolded over the past two days, the true face of the First Order has been unveiled.
The callous destruction of Hosnian Prime and its sister planets have proven that the First Order will stop at nothing to achieve iron-fisted dominance over the galaxy, just as its predecessor, the Galactic Empire, had done. But we, the forces of the Resistance, have isolated and destroyed the terror weapon responsible for the deaths of hundreds of billions of innocent sentient beings.
The weapon, code-named “Starkiller Base,” was discovered operating in the Unknown Regions, well within what is regarded as First Order-controlled territory. It was an unparalleled technological achievement, one that even surpassed the First and Second Death Star battlestations, and designed to destroy entire star systems through its manipulation and control of dark energy, the collected and contained plasma of host stars, and previously unknown methods of hyperspace tunneling.
With vital data obtained from a First Order defector, our X-Wing squadrons conducted a surprise assault on Starkiller Base, and with assistance from a strike team led by General Han Solo, eliminated this threat once and for all. The cost was high, with the loss of over half of our brave pilots, and the passing of General Solo.
The fight is not over. The leadership of the First Order is still intact, roving the Unknown Regions with their warships. And with the loss of the New Republic government and Starfleet, the stakes are far, far higher than ever before. We implore you, our fellow beings, to take up our struggle, or assist those who choose to do so, on your behalf. Your lives, and the lives of your children, depend on it. “In the darkness of night, the light shines brightest.”

The Poodoo Has Hit The Fan
Well, the New Republic’s hawkbats have come home to roost. All of those years of moving speeches, disarmament efforts, and general complacency with regard to Palpatine’s latest fan-club, and what was the end result? Countless billions dead, the complete vaporization of their government, and now, minimal resistance left to oppose the rise of a new Empire. Even ol’ Tarkin would be envious of this situation, you know… if his atoms weren’t scattered across the Yavin system.
At least all of that preaching that the Resistance did amounted to some good. That crazy hyperspace weapon the First Order built has met the same fate as Tarkin’s baby, so for the time being, another star system won’t spontaneously combust. It’s shame about Solo though. If it hadn’t been associated with all of the stang craziness going on in the galaxy right now, this tidbit would’ve been a eulogy to him instead. It’s always sad to watch a legend pass, especially one of Solo’s caliber. His reputation may have taken a bad hit with all of that Guavian and Kanjiklub nonsense, but hey, who honestly likes those guys anyway?
So what does all of this mean for all you free trading bandits out there? Opportunity. No doubt the Resistance will be taking plenty of shipments of supplies and weaponry, or coordinates to new safe-worlds at the very least. The war has begun, with or without the New Republic. Just like the old days, for those of you who’ve been around long enough to see it.
And while yours truly at Cynabar traditionally would refrain from opposition to playing both sides of a conflict… it’s our advisement that you folks steer clear of the First Order. Something’s not right about those guys. Even the Empire didn’t have that many cheerleaders in its own circles. Palpatine, Vader, Tarkin… they were interested in power and maintaining control. The First Order… they seem to just want to see the galaxy burn with everyone in it. Best not tempt fate: make your creds in the shadows and undercover. We’ll be there to inform you.

Priceless Casks of Alderaanian Brandy Lost in Transport Disappearance
As further developments on the mysterious disappearance of the heavy transport Twilight’s Reacher unfold, official sources have revealed that the vessel was hauling approximately 100 casks of Alderaanian Brandy, bound for storage and preservation at the Galactic Exotic and Rare Liquors Regional Repository on Denon. The intent of the shipment was to retain and control consumption in order to reserve remaining casks for Alderaanian refugees and their future descendants.
Twilight’s Reacher was expected to layover on Exodeen four days ago for its final leg of the journey to Denon, and never arrived. Imperial Navy and Sector Rangers search and rescue sweeps have yet to find any survivors and/or wreckage, and it is believed the transport may have suffered some sort of hyperspace calculation mishap. The Bureau of Ships and Services have updated their Lost/Missing Ships database and are seeking any information that may lead to the vessel’s recovery.
With median prices of the now-rare and dwindling spirits set at 700 credits per bottle, it is estimated the total loss reached a market value of 16.3 million credits. With this announcement, it is expected prices will skyrocket as collectors and caretakers of planetary heritage will no doubt tighten down on galaxywide distribution and sales.

HoloVid Star Renna Mendea Arrested on Sedition Charges
Rising star and widely-acclaimed HoloVid actress Renna Mendea was apprehended by Imperial Security Bureau officers at her Belrand residence at 0732 Adarlon Standard Time. The local ISB Adarlon Branch formally charged Mendea with sedition and conspiracy to undermine the New Order nearly four hours later. Witnesses to the arrest, whom have chosen to remain anonymous, have stated that ISB officials repeatedly denied her requests for her attorney at the scene. The ISB Public Affairs officer declined further comment on our inquiry of the matter.
It is speculated that her performance on the latest episode of Dreams on the Rim is what prompted the sedition charge. Mentions of on-vid character Yeln Numil, portrayed by recently-released, and subsequently blacklisted Caamasi actor Ninn Feron are believed to have drawn attention from COMPNOR censors. Ninn Feron was let go from the set of Dreams on the Rim after expressing his concerns of rising discrimination of non-human performers, and shortly after was barred from the HoloVid industry by the Adarlon Actors Guild.
As Ms. Mendea is the lead actress on the popular holodrama, production company Rising Suns Entertainment has announced a temporary hiatus on further production of the six-season running series, though inside sources have conveyed grave concern that her arrest may ultimately result in the series’ cancellation.

Suspected Slave Ship Destroyed by Mysterious Kathol Aliens
A report passed from a local free-trader in the Kathol Outback was verified by Imperial Navy patrol vessels today, confirming wreckage belonging to an unmarked bulk transport enroute from the Jangelle system to Timbra Ott. The freighter captain, Remm Nynn, previously claimed a vessel of unknown origin protruded from the highly-dangerous Kathol Rift, opened fire on the bulk transport with equally mysterious weaponry, and subsequently rammed it, rendering it unspaceworthy. He described the alien vessel as asymmetric in design and function, littered with millions of symbols and glyphs, and possessing technology unlike anything else witnessed in the galaxy.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes!” <translated> Captain Nynn explained. “I had heard the rumors from other haulers that work in the Marcol Void about “strange alien ships” that seem to attack at random, but didn’t believe any of it… until now.” He reiterated that any hails and pleas that he made on the behalf on what he witnessed were simply ignored. Captain Nynn added that he fled from the scene in fear for his life, but they did not pursue him.
It wasn’t until this morning that some sort of pattern was established when evidence of holding cells and cryogenic-suspension pods were discovered aboard the transport wreckage. It is speculated the ship was carrying slaves, none of which were found aboard the remains of the ship. And while several dozen bodies of varying species were discovered, all of the transport’s escape pods were jettisoned. The Public Affairs office of Moff Sarne, upon contact, dismissed the incident as an “anomaly in such a distant, relatively peaceful region of space,” and reinforced the strength and vigilance of Imperial Navy personnel safeguarding the sector.

Tibanna Gas Prices Skyrocket following Bespin Occupation
Within the weeks following the sudden and unexpected Imperial occupation of Bespin’s Cloud City, along with the subsequent nationalization of its gas mining facilities, prices for tibanna gas in both the Outer and Mid-Rims have soared amidst rising consumption and dwindling production. Bespin’s brand, in particularly, is known for its natural spin-sealed properties, which has minimized refinement and shipping costs for the settlement. The new Baron Administrator of Cloud City has cited overregulation, stringent curfews, and various labor disputes as primary factors.
While speculators were thrilled, especially those tied to the Imperial Mining Guild, with Bespin’s recent downturn in the market, independent traders and contracted shippers to the Imperial Navy alike are dismayed. Tibanna stockpiles across the Rim have dropped by an alarming 20%, while weekly usage has rose as much as 3 to 5% cumulatively. Imperial Naval Command Anoat Sector speculates that less than two months’ worth of supplies remain before its vessels, along with adjacent sectors, will be forced to utilize less capable gases to power its turbolaser weaponry.
It is expected that the Outer and Mid-Rim sectors will loosen tibanna imports from outside regions to meet demand. For those with a good supplier and looking for an “in” on the tibanna gas market, there’s never been a better opportunity.

Mercy Mission to Honoghr Disappears
At 0753 this morning, it was announced by Republic Navy officials that a shuttle ferrying a mercy mission to the world of Honoghr has disappeared. Outer Rim Command has confirmed that the shuttle crew of four, along with fourteen sentients of varying scientific and medical professions, were aboard at the time of the shuttle’s disappearance. While the system itself was restricted weeks ago by the Office of the Supreme Chancellor, it was believed that this particular group intended to study, offer relief, and medical attention to the world’s possible survivors.
Honoghr, a remote world in the Kessel Sector, was recently the site of a minor battle between Republic and Separatist forces. The Confederate warship Gahenna, originally en-route to Naboo, was intercepted in orbit above the world by an Acclamator-class assault ship. Heavy damage was inflicted to both vessels during the battle, with the Gahenna losing control and crashing onto the surface of the world. A Jedi recon team retrieved data from a Scientific Information Package within days, confirming the Gahenna was ferrying massive quantities of the toxic defoliant trihexalophine1138 with intent to deploy it onto the surface of Naboo. A return team confirmed that the defoliant seeped into Honoghr’s hydrosphere, ruining the planet’s ecosystem and rendering nearly 90% of its plant life dead or dying.
An envoy from Supreme Chancellor Palpatine has confirmed that no official rescue team will be dispatched to Honoghr, out of security and safety for the first responders. He further urged any citizens not to place themselves in harm’s way, as the world remains within contested space with the Confederacy.

Intact Space Grazer Corpse Recovered
Nearly five millennia following the passing of the last known reproductive pair and its declaration of galaxy-wide extinction, a survey vessel stumbled upon a fully-intact space grazer corpse this evening, at approximately 2230 Coruscant Standard Time. The expedition, originally tasked with the survey of a recently discovered system, stumbled upon it after their ship’s sensors revealed a large mass of organic matter, following a near-collision in hyperspace that was not accounted for by the adjacent Juinuit Beacon.
The corpse, preserved by both vacuum and the extreme cold of space, was measured at some 2.8 kilometers in diameter, with an estimated mass of some 592,000 metric tons, which would dwarf even the largest constructed Republic Navy and/or commercial capital ship. Radiometric dating determined the space grazer corpse to be between 11,000 to 12,000 standard years old. Xenobiologists believe the massive creature died of starvation, as it was discovered very distant from any major shipping route.
With no present means to transport or tow the deceased lifeform, the Republic Scout and Survey Service has decided to place a special hyperspace beacon to ward away any space traffic from the area. Officials have also hinted that a special team would be deployed to study the space grazer within the coming weeks.

T-70 X-Wing Shipment Vanishes
A shipment of two dozen Incom T-70 X-Wings has disappeared enroute to Fresia, an Incom spokesperson revealed this morning, which followed the company’s quarterly board meeting. The starfighters, valued at 4.8 million total credits, were scheduled for decommissioning and subsequent restoration for transfer to a planetary defense force.
The X-Wings were previously assigned to the New Republic Starfleet cruiser Adamant, serving in Vermillion and Talon Squadrons, which saw service in various post-Imperial conflicts, including search and destroy operations leading into the pivotal Battle of Jakku. The units boasted a combined record of 278 enemy fighters shot down, with only 32 total losses over their twenty-eight year service, a ratio of over 8 to 1. The two squadrons were decommissioned in a ceremony on Anaxes, as part of the continual drawdown of the Starfleet. The craft were originally bound for the Tierfon Defense Force following the three-month depot refurbishment period.
Incom officials cited concern over rumors of starfighters clandestinely transferred to Resistance units. They also reassured the media of Incom’s official policy to uphold New Republic law restricting the sale of starfighters to private military forces, which specifically mentions provisioning the Resistance. They also pledged to compensate Tierfon for the loss of the fighters, even offering a reduced number of the advanced T-85 model as replacement.

Alliance Fighters Blast Ord Javun Naval Depot
After months of intelligence gathering and coordinated raids to weaken its defenses, Alliance Javun Sector Command X-Wing and Y-Wing squadrons smashed the Imperial Naval Depot on Ord Javun this morning, destroying dozens of vital facilities, nearly 30 reserve TIE fighters, over 40 ground assault vehicles and several thousand tons of tactical supplies, crippling sustainment of the Empire’s forces within the sector at large. The total calculated loss was estimated at 1.4 billion credits in assets, not including potential resupply costs; an amount deemed “alarming” by pro-Imperial military analysts.
Sources linked to Alliance High Command explained that the destruction of the depot and its reserve supply assets was designed to alleviate mounting pressure from active resistance cells across the sector, who have recently incurred significant losses against Imperial forces. While there are no plans to liberate Ord Javun in the immediate future, the loss of the naval depot is expected to hamper Imperial influence across the sector, as further material losses will result in severe gaps in warfighting capability.
Of note is the dedication and effort of a specific agent, codenamed “Whisperer,” who was instrumental in the data-gathering of the installation’s defenses, along with the prompt and covert delivery of said data to Alliance Intelligence. While their identify remains anonymous, there is little doubt that they will continue to contribute significantly to the struggle to free the Javun Sector from the clutches of the Empire.

BREAKING NEWS: Devastating Earthquake Rocks Mareen
Tens of thousands are feared dead as a massive earthquake shatters Mareen’s capital city and the surrounding coastline. Our reporters in Lapira inform us that the city was struck by the massive quake at around 04:20 this morning and that it lasted for several agonising minutes as it tore the city and coastline asunder. Large sections of the city have been upturned and dumped into the ocean along with what is feared to be tens of thousands of sleeping Imperial citizens.
Emergency services from across Mareen are being mobilised and deployed to commence rescue operations, but it is already clear that the scale of the operation is colossal and with a high likelihood of aftershocks it likely to test the services to their very limits.
We will bring you more news as it comes in.

Grand Moff Tarkin Pledges Mareen Support
Waking to the terrible news on Mareen, Grand Moff Tarkin has held an emergency Holo-conference at the Governor’s Palace on Eriadu, declaring a sector level emergency. He has mobilised military assets from both the Navy and the Army to assist local emergency services in the crisis, promising to ‘bring aid to Imperial citizens as quickly as possible’.
From our sources we understand that several naval starships, including a pair of capital class vessels, have been issued orders to go to Mareen with all speed. The scale and speed of the response will certainly reduce causalities and bring much needed aid to the desperate people of Mareen.

Despite the short notice of the event, a spokesman for the foundation informs us that they have had a great response so far and that they are expecting a full house. Many business leaders and some high-ranking government officials have already come out in full support of the appeal and have confirmed their attendance.
The Halacon Foundation spokesman also confirmed that they have also received several substantial donations from the people of Aegea including the Foundation’s founder Cor Halacon. Please contact the foundation if you are able to help in any way.

Lapira: One Week On
The loss of life and the number of causalities in the city of Lapira on Mareen continues to rise as the crisis deepens a week on from the devastating earthquake that tore up city. The extent of the losses is not yet known, but our sources on the ground and those within the military are suggesting an unprecedented number of deaths and a rapidly escalating number of injuries not see since the Clone Wars. Embattled Naval and Army forces from across the Sector continue to bolster stretched local emergency services and rescue teams in an effort mitigate further losses and maintain order.
Grand Moff Tarkin has confirmed today that additional resources are being committed to crisis to aid the situation and help the desperate people of Mareen. The Grand Moff also announced yesterday at the Sector Level Emergency Council meeting that an expert team of Seismologists has been assembled and are on their way from the Core to assess the quake and the long term outlook for Mareen.
Aid and donations continue to pour in from across the sector and beyond. If you’d like to help please use this infolink to find out how you can help.
