One tool I like to make is a set of secret knowledge cards.
These are bits of story or setting information on an index card usually particular to the adventure.
I shuffle them then deal them to the players. I explain that they are bits of knowledge or trivia that your character knows. They might be relevant, or they may not be. You can share it with others or keep it to yourself, it's up to you.
Examples of them might be:
*The nearest neighboring system is the Dathica system. It's 4 hours away with a x1 Hyperdrive. It's mainly a forest and ocean planet with a heavy Imperial presence.
*Wookiees consider using their climbing claws during combat highly dishonorable.
*There's rumours of a hidden rebel base on Tarkan VI
I like them because they add flavor and sometimes help move the game along. _________________ "We attack under cover of daylight. Yes it's the last thing they'll be expecting, a daylight charge over the minefield." - Arnold Judas Rimmer, BSC SSC |

I like the idea, even though my players group tends to disperse too frequently and with this our session would be too long. They usually follow every clue. They suspect about everything. |

I agree. Really nice idea. I might look at bringing this in to some of my game sessions.
It's almost tempting to have some that are not true, in a separate pile, and hand out cards to players when they roll for Knowledge. The ratio of true/false could depend on their roll. _________________ "The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don't." |

This kinda thing is in built into the Darkstryder campaign. There are over a dozen pre-made crew members and many of them have their own secrets and agendas. And other members of the crew may know about. When the players select their characters (they pick 2 premades and 1 scratch character) then they are given a bio that contains the stuff their character knows about the other ones and about the sector of space nearby. _________________ His eyes are shifty. Thanks |
