|

I have some new players at my table and they've only ever played that "other" version of the Star Wars RPG. I want to print up some cheat sheets for them to be able to reference during game since we only have one book currently (that is until I get the funds to do a full print out of the REUP book), I currently have the MAP rules and movement rules on there, and for some reason I can't think of any other rules that are imperative to player knowledge that are used with extreme frequency.
Are there any other rules I should definitely worry about putting on the sheet? Even overlooked rules that maybe I'm not thinking of that should be remembered by the players as well? For the record I am keeping track of difficulties for actions and combats already, so they won't have to worry about those, and I already have the new player handout which worked wonders for character creation. _________________ Knowledge is power, and power corrupts...so what does that say about knowledge?

General skill use: meeting difficulty numbers, using Stat dice if no specific skill is available or increased; what is an Easy, Moderate, Difficult, Very Difficult use of a skill; shooting (ranges & difficulty), dodges (full & combat dodge); other combat skills like Brawl Combat, Melee Combat, and parries.
Wounds (levels) and effects, and healing wound levels.
HOUSE rules that you might use that differ from RAW. Very important to point those out. |

Since 2013, there's been three Star Wars RPGs, so "that other version" is not clear which one. WotC d20?

The material on R&E p. 18-21 was specifically compiled for this purpose. _________________ *

Thanks for the suggestions Axe.
Whill - The pages from the R&E book are fine, but I wanted them to have the specific rules for stuff that they would normally have to look in the book for, and those brief write-ups aren't quite enough, they don't go into the detail I want available. Though I think I'll add page 20 that has the CP and FP rules, which I hadn't thought of until you mentioned those pages.
For example - they don't have the full movement rules for things like how many speed categories you can change in one turn or the fact that you can only make one move action in a round. Most other games allow you to give up other actions to take extra movement, whereas in this game you cannot. My newer players are coming from other game systems that allowed the extra move, so they need to have a reminder that they can't in this system, and that they can only move so fast in that first round of combat.
I currently now have the movement rules, the reaction skills sidebar, the wounding table and wound effects, called shots (one of the players was notorious for attempting them in my AD&D game), and MAPs rules all on the sheet(s).
Yes for the record the WotC d20 version. Don't worry though, I despise all d20 OGL products, so the hatred isn't discriminatory at all. _________________ Knowledge is power, and power corrupts...so what does that say about knowledge?

I wasn't suggesting R&E p. 18-21 alone should be enough. I was just suggesting you look there towards your purpose. I'm glad p. 20 helped. _________________ *

Ah got it, either way thanks for the suggestion. Have them all printed out for when people get here later today. Guess I'll figure out if there were other things needed during tonight's game. _________________ Knowledge is power, and power corrupts...so what does that say about knowledge?

For me, cheat sheets should include
1) Wound levels, and what the penalties are, also applies to vehicles and star ships
2) movement brackets, and how many 'shifts' you can move up or down.
3) Skill difficulty brackets, and some examples of what classify as each
4) Healing rules
5) cover/concealment levels and bonuses. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I've got some cheat sheets that somebody made years ago (in other words, I was given them; I didn't make them).
I've got them in Dropbox, but will have to wait until I get home, as I can't access it here at work. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

No problem! Sorry it took so long for me to respond. My SW game has gone on hiatus a bit, so I haven't been getting to this forum for the last few weeks. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |
