As the title states - I'm looking for pre-existing examples of salvage law - doesn't matter what book/game/movie its from or for what region of the galaxy it applies to, BUT I would greatly love any examples for old republic space, or huttese space (if there even are any.) |

Stay tuned for the first issue of Wild Space Magazine due out in December. It'll have an article discussing this. _________________ Don Diestler

I was prepping some bounty hunter plot points, and read part of a bounty award as 'salvage rights'. Googling what that might be in SW d6 led me here, so I'll put what I found here as well.
In Star Wars terms, I haven't found much, but IRL several sources agree that...
"Typically, the salvage award is approximately 10 -25% of the total value of property that the salvor recovers. However, in certain circumstances the percentage of the value awarded to the salvor may be as high as 50% of the total value of property recovered."
This is a fee assessed as though the owner of the property (would have) agreed to it up front. Reasonableness and what not apply.
Also salvage fees are a very real and valid debt and can result in leins being placed on the property.
Finally, some courts default the goods to the salvor when they go unclaimed or unsettled for several years. |

I drew from GG8 when I was creating the early drafts of the article. _________________ __________________________________
