|
|
I've been thinking about making an Interrogation Droid with a twist. Rather than make it a torture specialist, I want to make it a body language specialist, along with sensitive bio scanners that allow it to literally detect when someone is lying. It could then transmit that information to a living interrogator via a built-in comlink. Obviously, a high Perception attribute would be appropriate, as well as a high Languages and Alien Species. Any suggestions? _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. There is a body language skill (and Loordian special ability), that just gives bonuses to other PER skills to tell if someone's lying or not. Also a good con is needed. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

If you're going to do this, then perhaps you could use a modified protocol droid. After all, they are programmed for interaction with other sentients, and how to respond based on their reactions. IMO, the protocol droid could be an effective interrogator because they're perceived as harmless. This would give them an advantage from the start, as their subject's defenses wouldn't be raised as high.
This droid would, IMO, need a high specialization in Interrogation, in order to know different techniques for acquiring information. Skill in Investigation might be appropriate as well. Definitely high scores in Persuasion, to be able to convince a subject to give information without seeming to be convincing them to do so.
I'm looking over one of my character sheets right now; I agree that, overall, Perception needs to be the high attribute here. I also believe that many of the skills under that attribute need to be high, including Con. Anything that would help in a conversation, whether by direct or indirect means, would be of use in this case. |

That's a good one. I was also considering making it some sort of Medical Assistant or Diagnostic Droid as a cover body style, as its knowledge of biology should logically extend to First Aid.

High Knowledge skills in general would be a plus, especially with my House Rule that allows Knowledge skills to boost more "practical" skills. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Body Languages works. Personally, though, I wish WEG had a Perception skill that was something like D&D's Sense Motive for things like that... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Ah I so thought you were going to make the tickle bot .... *dissapointed sigh*
Good idea though, good idea.
And Con is used again't con I do believe but medical sensors and alien species database can effectively do the same. |

So, bearing in mind Jedi Skyler's suggestion, I'm thinking this droid should be based on the RA-7 Protocol Droid, as it already has many of the features I want to include, specifically the concealed sensors and comlink. Plus, with the droid's backstory, it will not be unexpected to find what appears to be an RA-7 working within the bureaucracy of the Empire's security agencies. It could accompany an investigator into an interrogation room under the guise of an assistant, recording device and translator all rolled into one, with no one the wiser as to what it is actually doing. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Con might be used against Con, but if the droid is sufficiently programmed in speech patterns, it could be well-trained enough to engage in conversational trickery, rather than pharmaceuticals, in order to glean information from a subject... |

So then the question becomes should I build this droid as a PC or NPC? _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

It might be cool to run this as a PC; however, in my own opinion, it would be even MORE fun to be able to wreak havoc, as our own dear Hellcat did, with THIS droid from the Rebel Uprisings game:
Quote: | Kabakh
Type: Modified Servant Droid
Model: SE4 Servant Droid
Age: 75 Height: 1.6m Weight:
Physical Description: A dull green color with many dents and scratches. His right arm appears to have originally belonged to a super battle droid.
Dexterity 2D
Blaster 4D+1, dodge 3D+1
Knowledge 2D
Culinary arts 3D, cultures 3D, home economics 4D, languages 3D
Mechanical 2D
Communications 5D, (A)disorienting feedback 2D, repulsorlift operations 3D
Perception 2D
Bargain 3D, command 2D+1, con 2D+1
Strength 2D
Lifting 3D
Technical 2D
First aid 3D+2
Equipped with:
Humanoid body (head, two arms, two legs)
Vocabulary speech system
Photoreceptors
Auditory sensors
Arm mounted blaster-rifle (5D, 3-30/100/300)
Story Factor:
Backup personality: While in the service of Casisoman Senator Greleriv, Kabakh was programmed with a backup personality to make him act as a bodyguard. It was installed so Kabakh is not aware of it in his primary personality though he is aware of both in his backup personality. Anyone making a Very Difficult droid programming roll will discover this personality. A second Very Difficult droid programming roll is required to erase this personality with a memory wipe.
Move: 7
Force Sensitive: No
Force Points: 1
Character Points: 18
Equipment: Comlink, datapad
Background: Kabakh started life as a standard SE4 droid. Like most droids he was given a memory wipe on a fairly regular basis. That is until the Clone Wars when his then owner, the Casisoman senator Greleriv, had him modified to serve both as his personal servant and as an extra bodygaurd. He had the droid modified to by replacing his right arm with that of a super battle droid destroyed early during the wars and also had a backup personality that could not be erased so easily by a memory wipe. However, when the senator died at the hands of one of Count Dooku's assassins, Kabakh soon found himself up for sale.
Personality: Kabakh is normally very obnoxious personality wise, always promoting what he sees as proper manners, proper eating habits, sticking to a schedule he has created, etc. He fails to realize his right arm contains a retractable blaster. However, when given the code phrase "Kabakh defend" he becomes a determined bodygaurd who will kill everything in his path to keep his master safe. Under normal circumstances he is not even aware of this second personality. He can only return to his primary personality through the phrase "Kabahk stand down."
Objectives: To serve his master to the best of his abilities and make sure he/she eats properly.
