Have any of you ever heard of wookie ryyk blades, because aparently this is what they do (I think it's wrong, but I thought I should check with you guys).
Ryyk Blades
Model: Wookiee Ryyk Blades
Type: Traditional hand weapon
Skill: Melee combat: ryyk blades
Cost: Not available for sale
Availability: 4, X
Difficulty: Moderate
Damage: STR+4D
Game Notes: If non-Wookiee uses ryyk blades, increase difficulty to Difficult to represent weight of blades.
Can this possibly be correct?? they have no limit!! _________________ 'God gave you grace to purge this place

Hmm, I don't think I've ever seen any official D6 stats for Ryyk Blades. Those stats make them very powerful weapons with STR+4D and no maximum damage value! For those of you that may be wondering, here's a pic of some Ryyk Blades:

You mean that that might be correct? But if that's true than a fully pumped up wookiee in a rage could do 12D damage!! I can just imagine, my friend with one of those... all of our ships, droids, weapons, and lives would be gone!!! _________________ 'God gave you grace to purge this place

I found the stats at
http://www.swrpgnetwork.com/entry.php?s=b7f3d8cbc4afb1c846146eba37ebac87&id=254
and apparently it is in fantastic technolgy.
I can't be sure the info is good because it is all given in by seperate people. _________________ 'God gave you grace to purge this place

RYYK BLADES
Model: Ryyk Blade
Type: Melee Weapon
Scale: Character
Cost: 250
Availability: 3, R
Difficulty: Easy
Damage: STR+2D (maximum: 7D)
Game Notes: Ryyk blades are the traditional hand weapons of Wookies.
and
Model: Wookiee Ryyk Blades
Type: Traditional hand weapon
Skill: Melee combat: Ryyk blades
Cost: Not available for sale
Availability: 4, X
Difficulty: Moderate
Damage: STR+3D
Game Notes: This heavy weapon, is similar to massive sharpened machete. It can be used either one handed or two. Note that there is a -1D penalty if the user does not have at least a 4D strength, due to the mass of the blades. It does STR+2D damage (max 6d+2)
what do you think? (cause I'm sure confused as heck (can we curse here?)!) _________________ 'God gave you grace to purge this place

I know this thread is ancient but I have found some decent stats for the weapon. So here it is:
Ryyk Blade
Model: Ryyk Blade
Type: Melee weapon
Scale: Character
Cost: 250-500
Availability: 3, R
Difficulty: Easy (10)
Damage: STR+2D (maximum: 8D+2)
Game Notes: Ryyk blades are the traditional hand weapons of Wookiees. A minimum Strength 2D+2 is required to use this weapon effectively. Those with a lower Strength may still use the weapon but difficulty increases to Moderate (15).
Source: Arms and Equipment Guide (page 29)
Capsule:
Capsule: Ryyk blades were traditional swords constructed and used by the Wookiees of Kashyyyk.
The design of these weapons varied greatly between individuals since all ryyk blades were hand-crafted. Generally, the blade was a broad, curved design and the handle was wrapped in leather. Ryyk blades were considered an extension of the wielder, much like the Wookiee relationship with their bowcasters. The average weight of a ryyk was around fifteen kilograms, but Wookiees could wield them with surprising speed and grace. Wookiees would sometimes wield two blades at the same time in a graceful and deadly two-weapon fighting style. The blade was first developed when the Wookiees were still technologically primitive; they were used for clearing paths through the thick forests of Kashyyyk and fending off vicious predators and other attacking animals. They were also used for hunting, and if necessary, combat. Because of its exotic design and craftsmanship, a user required training to wield a Ryyk blade proficiently.
For a non-Wookiee to use the ryyk without earning the right to do so was an insult to most Wookiees. A non-Wookiee would be advised to be able to understand Shyriiwook and provide a good explanation why they are using the weapon. Trandoshan slavers would carry ryyk blades from captured Wookiees just to mock them.
A variant blade of the ryyk blade was called the ryyk kerarthorr.
Ryyk blades were used heavily by Trandoshan slavers during the Clone Wars and by Wookiee Berserkers during the Galactic Civil War. Aurra Sing, a bounty hunter, has been known to use the weapon. Wookiees armed with ryyk blades came to the defense of Princess Leia Organa Solo while she was pregnant on Kashyyyk to protect her from Grand Admiral Thrawn's Noghri Death Commandos. _________________ Don Diestler

Str+2d to Str+3d is what i would see them as. Though you do get vibro axes that can go to sr+4d.
If players think their characters would be invincible with one of those in the hands of their party wookie, just start having enemy use their own high Str races wielding them too.
OH and start having the enemy call shot TO The weapon itself. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

what I find the most amusing in this topic - is the fact that you all think the Wookiees wouldn't have found a way to make the Ryyk blades, the weapons they use to defend their homes with, strong enough to be usable in their races own form of combat (ie when they rage.).
Just think on that for a minute. |

I don't understand this comment at all. Rage is not a type of stylized combat. If a wookiee ever Rage's they have essentially lost their sh1t to the point where they only use brawling (the bonus specifically states the damage bonus is to brawling). In fact after the obvious enemy has been dispatched they require an Easy (10) Perception roll to calm down. It does not state what happens if they don't calm down but I would assume they would run around trashing stuff or possibly attack anyone else, with the exception of the person/item to which they feel their strong attachment to that set them off when it was attacked/put in danger.
As for the weapon itself, its modified sword. The question is how much additional damage does that equate to and what is the damage cap.
Tales of the Jedi p.125, states a typical sword is Easy to use and does STR+2D (4D max) damage.
We can assume this is optimally designed for use by humans/near-humans who typically have 2D is their stats.
A wookiee has a 4D+1 for a typical Strength. I would suggest that Rykk Blades are Easy to use, STR+2D (8D+2). This is in keeping with the formula already established for a human using a sword.
I also think a minimum Strength to use this item effectively is appropriate. Since the minimum of wookiee is Strength 2D+2 this is what is required to use this weapon effectively. Those with a lower Strength may still use the weapon but difficulty increases to Moderate (15).
Note: changes made to the stat block originally posted. _________________ Don Diestler

And since when enraged, wookies take a 2d penalty to all NON strenght skills AND attribute checks, that perception score would get dropped down, making it a lot harder for a wookie to ever come out of that rage, since racially wookies are limited to a 2d+1 MAX perception score, even if at max, they have 1 for their left over. I can't remember if there is any rule that you can always roll just one die or not, so that technically means wookies would never get out of the rage unless they have assistance. Or you ignore the -2d penalty to their perception for that roll. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Once whatever has pissed our wookiee, being it the scene or a person or group of persons, they can make an Easy (10) Perception roll with no penalties per RAW. I would argue they could substitute Willpower and there would be further possible modifiers based on what close friends are doing and if they can make appropriate Persuasion/Con rolls with the wookiee. _________________ Don Diestler

I always thought that (no penalties) meant from MAPS or wounds.. Not the -2d they suffer for being IN rage. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
