I had found an image with an external view of the Carrack-class light cruiser where it lists external TIE mounts similar to those used on the Gozanti-class cruiser.
The Gozanti-class design is 63.8m long and 32m wide and carries four TIE fighters. How many TIE fighters would the Carrack-class carry its nearly x5 longer and x2 wide (350m long and 72m wide)?

Officially, the Carrack carries only 4 TIEs as well, usually TIE/rc's. YMMV. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

I was able to find an image where the TIE racks hold four and a single rack towards rear one. I would assume the one to the rear would be a specialty TIE of some type.

Due to the way that docking arm hangs down, I always figured it was part of a landing grapple system that physically captured the TIEs, then inserted them into the racks. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Carracks are beastly capital ships for their size. High firepower and amazing hull and shields. Personally I'd rework their weaponry so they have both capital and starfighter scale weapons, ymmv.
If you want to give them two more ties for a half squadron just make it a modified version. A Carrack-C variant, C for carrier. Balance it out by removing a gun or a tractor beam or some such. Maybe remove some cargo space for an extended pilot's lounge with a simulator.
In game story, this was an attempt to mitigate the Rebel starfighter threat after Yavin. Eventually the Empire would build the Lancer-class, but this was one solution used before the Lancer was greenlit. Or something. Maybe an old design, the backbone of rimward planetary fleets, modified to bring more TIEs into the mix to combat pirates or some such. The Carrack-C became popular for a year or two after Yavin. |

I can get behind that, Krystoss. _________________ __________________________________
