In a few missions i would like to reward the PCs with dwellings on the planet of tatooine. this is a mission reward from the Hutts but is mainly meant to encourage them to establish a base of operation (as recommended in pirates and privateers)

House can range from small single room dwellings all the way to massive mansions, on planets as poor and remote as Tatooine to rich and centered in culture as Corusant.

As for prices here are my thoughts...

Tatooine Small Dwelling: 2,000 credits
Tatooine Large Manson: 50,000 credits

Corusant Small Apartment: 200,000
Corusant Large Apartment: 5,000,000

I got the factor of 25x from real life, im my city here in ohio, the large home sin nice neighborhoods are roughly 25x the pirce of a tiny home in a bad crime filled neighborhood.

As for rent i was thinking 1-2% of the value of the home per month.

Any thoughts?

I'm confused by your use of the word "reward". Doesn't that mean that the PCs won't be paying rent? If they will be, then how is the apartment a "reward"? Can't any PC jujst choose to look for an apartment on any planet and rent one if they find one they like that's available?

That's the standard definition of reward, but he did use the word Hutts in the same sentence, and that can change the definition of reward!

I think he just wants to know if his price range is reasonable, which it seems to me may be a little bit steep. It's hard to tell, though.

I find it difficult to come up with prices for a fictional galactic economy.

The Star Wars Sourcebook has the following general housing prices:

Hovel 150-250/mo. (rent)
Regular Apt. 250-500 mo. (rent)
Luxury Apt. 500-1400/mo. (rent)
House 750-1800+/mo. (rent) / 35000 (buy)
Storage Space 10-100/mo. (rent)
Established Farm 1000-50000+ (buy)
New Settlement 50-50000 (buy)

Using those numbers, one could potentially generate a formula for modifying the price based on the stats of the planet itself, such as technology level, population, planet type, etc. Check any of the Planet Guide books or GG8 for more details...

Yeah, just add a few mulitpliers.

Planet/City
Mos Eisley: x1
Coruscant: x10

Neighborhood
Slums: x1
Middle class: x2
High class: x4

etc

Edit: Plz note actual numbers from the top of my head.

Those are definitely factors. I was thinking more along the lines of things like Atmosphere type, tech level, etc. They would all have an effect on home pricing.

Set in the Empire time, if you weren't human it might even up the price. If they could get an apartment at all.

Suprisingly affordable for something with the supreme entertainment value of watching planets get blown up. But the "Acts of Rebels" Insurance is through the roof!

Interesting point. In the real world many policies and agreements specifically exclued "acts of war." Do insurers in Star Wars have similar exclusions (I would expect that they do) and do they consider Rebel actions "acts of war?"
