Gundark's Fantastic Technology says that the difficulty to use a medscanner is the same as for using a medpack, Easy for Wounded, Moderate for Incapacitated, etc. Is there any reason to think that the difficulty would go up with successive uses the way a medpack does?
I'm wondering if it would be more difficult to use when say someone is hit with a blaster if they are already covered in blaster burns.
Could the +1D bonus to First Aid still be used as easily if multiple medpacks were being used on the same wound? |

On the first part of that question, i say no. Repeated uses of a medical scanner imo would NOT engage that penalty you get when using more med packs.
As to the +1d bonus? Where you getting that from? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Page 104 of Gundark's Fantastic Technology says that successfully using a medscanner gives +1d to First Aid. |

In that case yes. Though the difficulties for repeated medpack usage would still climb. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Yeah. The idea behind the increasing difficulty with medpacs is that the more shot up you get, the harder is is to keep you going. You can't just keep taking more painkillers, or eventually you'll OD on painkllers.
I could see the difficulty of a mediscanner being altered if there was some other medical condition or situation that would factor into the treatment. For instance, if the injuries person had allergies to certain medications, or some sort of illness that would affect the treatment, or if he were on some sort of medication that would intereact with the medpac.
But that would probably soem sort of GM special, or maybe a Wild Die complication. |
