Progress on REUP has been lightening fast. I am shocked at how quickly we are tearing through layout. So as a team we have been discussing what to tackle next. We are certainly going to contribute to the Wild Space mag being published, but we want to continue our work on updaating the system. We have a few options. We are posting this to garner some feed back from you guys. Here our our choices.

1.Make a "true" third edition. This edition would be a hybrid between 2ed r&e, 1st ed and the introductory adventure game. A simpler, faster ruleset.

2.Make splat books... Era based sourcebooks, old republic, clone wara, dark times, rebellion, new republic, new jedi order, and legacy

3. Re do adventures into ebooks

4. Re do some of the better WEG books into "proper" ebooks

So that is what we have come up with, my personal vote is to re do WEG books and adventures into ebooks, but i am merely a cog in the greater wheel. What do you guys think would be beast for old playera, new playera and gms.

5.

I think 3 and/or 4. Mostly because they can represent templates for further development (and splatbooks and so on), and because one should present a couple of scenarios in each of the eras.

One could also establish branding that roughly follows the timelines as established - SWTOR / KOTOR (-4 000), classic era (around the Battle of Yavin, as defined from the rise of the New Order), and then post-classic era (100+ years ABY; legacy is about 130 ABY, as far as I can recall). Obviously, everything would be Infinities, I'd guess.

Personally, I think I might enjoy splatbooks more than any of the other options. However, I would probably wind up more appreciating books that the developers had more passion for. If doing one project is a strain, you're going to burn out faster and not have as good of a finished product as you would if you're doing something that you truly want to do.

So, the question is, would you have more drive doing something that the community wants or what you want?

3 and 4 (3 especially) sound good to me!

I like that era division, sooooo much simpler than the cannon eras.

Well put. I hate starting projects i cant complete. Splatbooks are very time-consuming.

It seems that option 1 so far has no takers (im not too fond of this myself)

What are your thoughts on redoing Darkstryder into a full ebook, combining all the books into one grand campaign. I have run it 2 times with great success, I know there are mixed feelings about it.

Out of curiosity, I've recently become rather enamoured with the idea of properly-formatted eBooks of the WEG guides, rather than the often poorly (or completely un-) OCR'd versions that exist today which are based on image scans. I know when working on the TOR book, any time I need to grab text from a WEG sourcebook it's like pulling teeth, and I dread it.

If you were to move forward with WEG eBooks, I'm curious as to your process - I'd even be interested in being involved to some degree. How would you go about producing these - is it really as direct as "re-type and re-layout everything?" Or do you have a killer OCR setup I don't know about?

I would love to see the Stat book redone. Taking the Saga Conversions, Stat books and additional worthy material all packed into a better layout, new art and flavor test perhaps.

And bound in one volume and sent off to LULU to see if we can actually slam a a massive 1000 page tome on the gaming table!

Okay, that last bit is too much to ask for, but just let me keep that fantasy for just a few moments.

Sorry, that would be 1,628... including covers.

You can have your REUP in one hand, and your "companion volume" in the other.

Sorry I meant updating the eight Stat books, folding the Saga Conversions into those, putting in additional material as appropriate, doing a better layout and art. Perhaps include flavor text as able.

Shoot, get it all in one massive (hardback) tome and it would make a handy melee weapon! Laughing
