By accident I stumbled upon a fascinating article on Wikipedia...
(*waits for the eyerolling and groans to subside*)
...and I could not help but wonder if Lucas had been inspired by this, as it seems to be similar to how the Force is conceived in the SW universe (at least, as far as I know).
However, whereas Reichenbach discussed fainlty visible 'auras', I don't recollect such a description in the SW saga.
However, it is also possible that Lucas was more inspired by Asian philosophies, than anything of the West.
Perhaps this is old hat to SW acifionados.
It may prove fruitful to look into this further to add customising details to one's own SW campaign to make the Force more enriched with variant rules.

Whoa dude. That guy was the first Jedi.
The Kabbalistic Jewish mystic philosophy of the ten emanations of the S'firot also remind me of the Force. I actually will be using this idea when my party encounters a non-Jedi Force-user. _________________ "I still wouldn't have a roll for it - but that's just how I roll." |

you know I'm not sure I "like" a philosophy that comes from that era of Germany, but it will make good background
Especially as I'm always looking for ways to take Jedi philosophy out of the realm of orient schools and bring some occidental influence.
Kabbalah has always worried me, but I may have to mine it a bit for ideas too _________________ "And so I am become a knight of the Kingdom of Dreams and Shadows!" - Mark Twain

Kabbalist writings are really confusing to read, but the ideas are fun to use in game settings. _________________ "I still wouldn't have a roll for it - but that's just how I roll." |
