How many of you have allowed your PCs to get their hands on this rare item?
One of my players had long ago expressed an interest (and was keeping his eye out for some), and this last session had a number of other players trying to find some (at the market). So far they've had no luck, but then it is supposed to be very rare (as GM I've rolled dice and only with a really rare roll will it be found). _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

None of my players have it. I usually make armor like that really hard to find, or flawed in some way (it doesn't fit your species/stature).
I did that when my bounty hunter wanted a sneak suit (+2D Sneak). The vendor scammed him and gave him a suit that only provided +1D and its circuits short out periodically.
The bounty hunter armor is also a powersuit, so your players would need to train in powersuit operation to move around in it. _________________ "I still wouldn't have a roll for it - but that's just how I roll." |

I always kind of thought bounty hunter armor as similar to unique droids and custom equipment. Yeah you can find some some stuff from different vendors and even items from specialty suppliers, but the really good stuff, is built for you. Yes its expensive, but its custom and made specifically for you. That is how I have thought of bounty hunter armor. _________________ Don Diestler

Which bounty hunter armor? The base book set, that is +2d phys, +1d energy -1d dex? Or some other suit? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Not bounty hunter armor, we went one better. One of the characters wears a full, real, custom Mandalorian suit. Though it is kind of par for the course, as he is a Mando. _________________ Plagiarize! Let no one else's work evade your eyes,

Yeah, that's the one. Except you seem to have added the -1D DEX on there. If that was part of the published stats, I'd be less hesitant to have it ever show up. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

Yeah the published stats don't have a DEX penalty. The only person in my campaign who has it is the bounty hunter who is hunting the party. Cruel? Maybe.... _________________ "I still wouldn't have a roll for it - but that's just how I roll." |

It was in the official stats, but dumped in later editions to make things easier for PC bounty hunters. Personally, I'd wish they had kept it but just said that the PCs have spent money on DEX enhancements to negate the penalty (I allow this using the modify armor rule -improving DEX instead of armor rating).
As far as basic hunter armor goes, I allow it pretty freely. There might be some legal difficulties depending on where the PCs are, but the armor itself is out there - and not that rare.
Some of the special hunter armors, however, can be a lot more difficult. There is one suit of Mando armor around in my campaign, and the PCs have had a devil of a time getting it off of the the guy who is currently wearing it. |

Actually they do list a -1D DEX penalty for bounty hunter armor (R&E p.263). _________________ Don Diestler

Its listed on the chart, on that page, but not in the equipment description on page 234.
How ever it IS listed in the 2e non revised (blue cover) book, page 137 as having a dex penalty of 1d. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

This might seem a daft udea, but how about utilising scavenged Stormtrooper armour? Getting it patched and modified....just a thought. Start off with scavenged armour, add on commercially available gear, then wiork up to mil surplus and black market gear, then custom equipment. Seems a logical way to progress. |

First problem, first get working stormtrooper armour then second problem try not to get shot by all and sundry.
The Imperials for having the armour, let alone wearing it. Not to mention everyone else shooting you because you look like imperial stormtroopers. much better to try and find something else on the black market. |

Yeah. Basically if you are wearing ST armor then you got it off of an ST, which means you are a wanted criminal. Good luck. Now if you are on some of the fringe worlds or Hutt space, nobody might care, but in most place it will get you in trouble. That is unless you modify/paint it, or pass yourself off as a ST (works until you get caught). |

Just paint it a different color and get a new helmet. Nobody will tell the difference! _________________ "I still wouldn't have a roll for it - but that's just how I roll." |

The helmet has all the useful items in it like the MFTAS, macrobinoculrs, comlink etc.
Also if your not a human male within a certain size range the armour and body glove won't fit well, though you could modify this if your GM lets you. but would be easier in the long run to just buy armour elsewhere. |
