Hi , was wondering after I read the description of the Mon Cal cruisers and how everyone of them is unique why then are there not any varients ? has anyone come up with any ? I know that Home one was larger and carried more fighters , but I cant think of any others being different .

Also how many MC80 cruisers do you think the rebels had at most ? A total guess from me but I would say at least 10 , what do others think ?

The Mon Cals were unique due to the fact that Mon Calamarians viewed starship construction as an art instead of a science, IIRC, so each ship was unique to begin with. The militarization of each ship further "uniquificated" each one.

I'm sure there were variants, but the variations were probably too slight for WEG to make different ship stats for.

Does anyone have the stats for the variants ? I'm sure I seen the evac one in the Dark Empire sourcebook and from memory the MC80B just carried more fighters but could be wrong ...

Nope. No one has made them. I think someone did come up with at least the MC80B or A I think, it was a luxury cruiser.

Well having read up a bit on Mon Cal cruisers it seems there are several variants :

the basic MC80 , standard carring 3 sf squadrons
the MC80a which carries 6 squadrons
a MC80a subclass which only carries 3 squadrons
the MC80b which have heavier hull ( +1D hull ? ) and carry 4 squadrons with later models carrying 8 squadrons
the MC80 Liberty type which carry 3 squadrons of fighters
and the MC80 Home One type which have heavier hull ( +1d ? ) also heavier shields ( +1D ? ) and a different weapon loadout 36 turbolasers instead of the normal 48 , and 36 Ion cannons instead of the normal 20 , these carry upto 10 fighter squadrons

I can help out with some specific, unique names, and perhaps some other details, when I get home.

Decipher's CCG heavily utilized WEG's work in everything they did, and they detailed quite a bit about the various Mon Cal warships (with names and such).

You also have the MC-82 medical conversion, which only carried 2 squadrons of fighters but had an expansive medical suite, and the 84 fighter carrier convert that iirc carried 4 squadrons..

Here's the info I got from my Star Wars CCG cards. Note that each of these is a Mon Calamari Star Cruiser. I don't know if any of it will prove useful, but here it is:

Defiance
Fleet rear guard. Weapon batteries hard-wired to central targeting processor. Coordinates vicious crossfire against enemy capital starships.

Home One
Command ship of the Rebel fleet. 1,200 meters long. Masterpiece of aesthetic form. Most heavily armed and armored ship in the fleet. Admiral Ackbar's personal flagship.

Independence
Communications starship. Often hosts first assignment for top prospects from among newly commissioned officers.

Liberty
Winged star cruiser. Military transport for technical units. Afforded special care by the Alliance's top engineers.

Mon Calamari Star Cruiser (generic)
Mon Cal MC80 cruiser. Originally a civilian ship. Converted to military use following the liberation of Mon Calamari from the Empire.
