Capsule:The BFF-1 Bulk Transport is a common medium bulk transport. It is manufactured by the Phylon Freight Company, which builds primarily transport ships. The BFF-1 bulk transport is a medium-sized bulk transport, which can carry up to 85,000 metric tons in two cargo bays. These cargo bays can be considered as two seperate hulls. The cockpit and the engine section are situated between these cargo bays. An advantage towards other bulk transports is, that the BFF-1 is lightly shielded. But it is also has no weaponry for defense and has to rely on its escort, if it is attacked.
During the time of the Galactic Civil War, BFF-1s could be found in almost every container depot, cargo station, customs checkpoint, or shipping port in every sector. Considered easy targets by raiders because of their low sublight speed and lack of defensive weaponry, they often traveled in convoys defended by more combat-worthy starships. |

Capsule: BFF-1 bulk freighters were freighters designed by Phylon Freight along with Aratech Repulsor Company, and built under contract by Damorian Manufacturing Corporation.
This craft was a standard medium-sized freighter that was common throughout the entire galaxy. It was low-cost, partly due to its lack of defensive armament, effective and capable of extremely long range bulk transport duties. The BFF-1 was designed to haul four Xizor Transport Systems Class-A Cargo Containers, attached in arrays of two on either side of the vessel's main hull, and modified into cheap yet capacious storage holds.
The cargo containers were slightly truncated, however, due to the freighter's length of 120 meters. Ordinarily, a pair of Class-A containers would be 150 meters in length. The length however could be referring to the freighter's main section, which is significantly shorter than the cargo containers surrounding it.
One advantage of this type of transport is that despite its significant size, the BFF-1 has the ability to land. However, it flies rather sluggishly at sublight speeds, requiring a pilot with a steady yet gentle hand. Besides cargo of all sorts, the manufacturers managed to make later versions acceptable for passenger transport, making room for about a hundred people. One other important attribute is the BFF-1's tractor beam. This is very handy if there's even more to haul, but it also helps multiple ships to stay in formation which is very important because these ships tend to travel in convoy.
A significant flaw in the BFF-1 Bulk Freighter is the fact that it has no armament to speak of which makes it an easy target for pirates and the like. Its thick hide, boasting good deflectors and ionic shielding as well as the 'safety' in numbers, are the only things that can make sure this ship gets the goods where it's needed.

I went with the higher multiplier because it seemed as though it was a "cheap" transport for moving a lot of stuff. In the capsule it says it was clunky at sublight. Keeping those two things in mind, I figured it was built with the "slow and steady" motto. I suppose for those who want, the Hyperdrive could be x5 with backup x15? _________________ Don Diestler
