Depends on the kind of skiing _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

There's an Athletics skill? I assume it would cover all athletic endeavors? _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

Athletics is a new skill and is not a RAW skill. It covers all manner of athletics. Specializations include the specific sport: skiing, football, rugby, shockball, etc. This is typically a DEX skill but depending on the focus of the sport could default to STR. Hope that helps. _________________ Don Diestler

I say STR skill, but then, I moved Running to STR a long time ago, so having all the movement skills under a single attribute makes sense to me. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. I say strength too. I have always considered dexterity to be more of hand-eye coordnation, judging distance, that sort of thing. Anything thing that took physical training and physical conditioning I consider strength. _________________ "EXECUTE ORDER 67. Wait a minute, that doesn't sound like order 67..... No, wait. The dilemma here is that I understand and partially agree with each and every argument. I see it as a dexterity skill because of the balance, a strength skill because of the...er, strength, and a mechanical skill due to the skis nearly being a vehicle (and since beast riding is there it makes me wonder).
I was envisioning a James Bond style chase downhill at a ski resort (which movie had him following the bobsled, For Your Eyes Only?) and I couldn't decide which attribute skiing would fall under. _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

Why not make it fall under multiple attributes?
We for us have houserules that you can have "First Aid" and "(A) Medicine" with either Knowledge or Technical.
It's not that rare that a specific Skill needs several of the attributes, so you could either make it a mix (complicated and extremely houseruled) or put it under both and you can choose which one you want to (easy and only a little houseruled). |

How's about dex (athletics) for the actual use of his skis, with him making periodic stamina rolls to see how well his limbs take it. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
