A Jedi using the lightsaber combat in a round will have to use both his Control and his Sense.
When it's his turn in the initiative can he roll BOTH the skills (-1D each) or will he have to roll one skill first (-1D) and then the other when it's his turn again that round?

Option 2 will make the C, S, A powers (like projected fighting and telekinetic kill) fairly time-consuming in a combat situation. Other plays will have multiple attacks against you before you even activate the power.

As far as I'm aware, you can throw up every roll in one round, taking two passes to do it following multi action...it'd just suck. The C S A would take 3 actions in one round, all at -2D. Not to mention a dodge or parry of some sort that would also suffer MA.

Agreed, my understanding would be you're rolling both at the same time, to activate the single power of Lightsaber Combat. Same goes for any other power, that requires 2 or 3 skills to activate, you're being penalized already by taking a -1D (or more) to each skill being rolled, so they would be rolled at the same time in the round, not one first, then another later.

For some reason I think it actually calls out somewhere in the book that you can roll them separately or something, which would mean a longer time to activate, but less penalty on each roll (easier to accomplish for those with lower skills), but if you have the skill level to 'eat' the -1D (or more), then they happen simultaneously.

Not sure if anyone can back me up on that second point?

I stand corrected:

2R&E P141-142:
Using Powers
Many of these powers use a combination of the three Jedi skills. Calling upon each Force skill is a separate action.

The Jedi may roll each skill in consecutive rounds at no penalty, or may attempt to fully activate the power in one round, incurring normal multiple action penalties.

So, powers that require multiple skills can either be activated over consecutive rounds, or in one round, however, it clearly states that calling upon each Force Skill is a separate action, which means one skill roll would be your first action, taken in order of initiative, and then the second skill roll would be your second action, again taken in order of initiative, both with a -1D.

However, if this is your game, it's your prerogative to tweak the rules to fit what you believe is right, and then write into your own house rules.

Yup.. Each skill roll is its own action.
