|
For years now, I've been working on implementing a comprehensive Starship Construction and pricing system for Star Wars D6. With help from community members such as Grimace, Krapou, and atgxtg, I've been able to piece together a Complete Starship Construction System that seems to effectively and fairly ballpark the value of starships and their weapons suites. Most of you were probably already aware I was working on this, and some of you probably knew it was basically finished, just not written down.
Well, I've got it written down.
The root of the system is fundamentally similar to Krapou's, on which I based most of my work. (Much credit goes to him, and to Grimace, on which Krapou based his work, and to WOTC on whose work grimace based his.) Krapou had an excellent system which could replicate the price of everything from a B-wing to an ImpStar II, but we agreed it didn't seem to handle bulk freighters well. I managed to incorporate a crew requirement metric into the system, so the number of crewmen needed would scale with the technological demands of the ship's systems. (And I did it with Krapou's excellent tables mostly intact!)
Now I'm able to get the system to replicate the canon prices of most vessels within about ±10%. It seems to be able to handle such extremes as RSD Dreadnaughts with their massive crews, X-wings and TIEs, Action V transports with vast cargo bays and small crews, and warships like ISDs.
I've also managed to adapt atgxtg's custom weapon pricing system to fit the emplacement system taken from Krapou's systems, so you can build custom weapons. Want 2 fire-linked quad-mounted long range turbolaser cannons? You can see how many fortunes that's gonna cost you!
I invite you to use it freely, test it out, take it for a spin, and push the envelope. If you find something wrong, let me know, and I'll try and fix it. Ask questions and I'll answer.
Most of all, Enjoy! _________________ Or that excessively long "Noooooooooo" was the Whining Side of the Force leaving him. - Dustflier

Yes thank you for your work. It is interesting and after one or two mock up tests seems close to correct it gets star fighters and freighters close to the same cost as their listed counter parts. I think my players will greatly enjoy this when they get the credits to design their own ship. |

Agreed (mine too). I plan on taking a look, when I get the chance at home. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

I started messing around with it so I can get the pricing right for an article I'm working on for the D6 Magazine. Unfortunately I just haven't had the time to put serious time into the pricing. _________________ __________________________________

It's certainly not just mine. It started with a team of professionals, and then went back and forth through 4 or more committed gamers trying to improve it for several years. It ought to be pretty good after that! I can't wait until some other guy notices a shortcoming and improves it again! _________________ Or that excessively long "Noooooooooo" was the Whining Side of the Force leaving him. - Dustflier

I'd really love to see this, but every attempt to do so crashes my browser (Google Chrome).
Any other way of seeing it? _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

Did a bunch more, but with no luck. I was able to download iLivid fine, but the folder appear empty, and all it downloads is an empty folder called Roblox.
I can get to a screen that says:
Sorry, the file link that you requested is not valid.

At best there's a time when I can view it as a "preview document", but the words are tiny and mostly unreadable, and there's no way to save the image, that I can figure out.
So I'd love to see it, but it's proving exceedingly elusive!

I downloaded it just fine, no issues.
Try clicking the link in his signature, that was the one I followed to get the guide. At first glance it looks fun, I might use this guide to come up with a ballpark cost for my villain's prototype ISD. _________________ RR

I downloaded it without problems from 4shared.
As Chesire said use an account on it, you shouldn't have any problem. |
