While looking at the link provided by thedemonapostle for a USNavy railgun test firing I happended across this interesting article on liquid armor that is lighter and stronger than kevlar, flexible as a liquid, but that hardens on impact. 8)

Who knows? But it could already exist a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

I could see it being part of Stormtrooper armor. Maybe in the body glove.

What would the stats be? How effective would it be in hotter environs? Cold environs?

Fallon Kell the Character once had designs drawn up for a torpedo boat that had liquid armor in the hull, and my brother's character has an armored flight suit with a reactive gel layer.

Hard to say at present. I don7t think they have NIJ ratings for it yet. Based on the article, I suspect that it willend up being a bit better than the ballistic armor we have now.

I wonder what happens when a bulletactually manages to damage the armor though. Does all the liquid leak out?

Depends on if it it has some form of temperature control. Water is around 900 times as dense as air, and so much better for radiating heat. So if it has some sort of cooling/heating system it would be great.

f not, it would terribe, since the waterproof suit, vest, whater would trap persperation and heat.
