Having read Galladinium's, I was struck at once by how easily abused it was. It was quite cheap to make utterly dominating droids. Now, obviously, the best cure for rule abuse is for the GMs to step in and say 'no,' but I was troubled by how little help a GM had in determining how to set boundaries. I was also troubled because some very rare droids are pretty incredible (see, Guri) and I wanted adequate rules to represent this. Without further adieu...
Droid Construction
Notes:
Armor is unrolled, that's part of a house rule we use. Convert it to 1 point = 1 pip, approximately.
Most of the additional equipment listed in various books seems to be all right. I modified the Databases because they didn't fit in terribly well.
This system heavily favors specialist droids who are good at a small handful of things. You can pick up extremely cheap models for minor tasks. Droids are better at a couple things are more expensive, but droids that are good at a lot of things are a lot more expensive. The presumption is that improving one stat has knock-on effects on other stats.
The skill modules are a blatant innovation which I based on some remembered scenes from the books, but they allow a bit of post-chassis variability.
Finally, droids who become characters can spend CP as normal, and learn skills de novo in their droid brains.[/url] _________________ "Jumping through hyperspace ain't like dusting crops, boy." |
