Hi,
are there any rules regarding used equipment?
I mean if you, for example, buy a used Blaster instead of a new one to save some credits.
Are there any downsides to a used weapon (as in actual rules)? |

Depends on the GM.
He might allow purchasing used equipment simply to let the players' credits stretch farther.
He might also incorporate some random rolls to determine if there are any problems that come with said used equipment. After all, that will depend more on exactly WHERE the characters bought their equipment. A reputable dealer will be less likely to pass off lemons than would an individual seller. The individual seller might have no ties to the planet they're on when they sell that faulty, used blaster, and might be gone when the character comes back to collect credits and perhaps dish out a little payback. Even a semi-reputable dealer is going to have a reputation to uphold, and would therefore be more likely to offer good, working gear. |

so, basically, there are no rules and it's GM decision? |

contemporary comparison is half new price for used items in new condition with a limited warranty (any problems return to the licensed second hand dealer for refund), or otherwise quarter new sale price for cash and carry used in new condition (off the back of a truck). |

this rears its head often in our games - as we're a rather gritty style bunch.
Pass these rules by yer gm and see what hes says. this little table stacks with the bargain table in our campaigns.
Random rolls by GM: (6's carry)
1-3: None available used here.
4: Has one and only one left - is used but in good shape. 80% of book
5: Has some spare that have seen some wear. 60% of book (lighty damaged - needs repair)
6: Has some of the product - all of its seen better days. 40% of book ( moderately damaged - needs repaired)
7: Has plenty of the stuff used - most of its junk. 20% book price (heavily damaged - needs repaired)
8: Why sure do - just in from the wastes. 50% book, but seller knows its stolen.
9: Um well, you see... yes, but no? I have parts!. 10% book - (item is destroyed with 5D6 % remaining as parts - if reconstructed and repaired - any 1's will be mishaps.)
10: Hmm what? yeah sure - here somewhere. (Seller has the item but is unaware of what the items actual value is or just what condition its in.)
11: Well I do but you wouldn't want it. 20% book price. (Seller has the item and it is in working condition but the seller knows the item has a bad history, weither he is willing to tell the customer this is unknown as if the rumors are true or not.)
12: really?? you don't say!?! you bet I do! - say, yer a swell guy - heck I even like you so much, you can have her! I mean it! (seller not only has the item in working condition but is trying to give it away. He has his reasons for doing so as well - none of them good.)
13+: reroll - the item is available - and in mint condition - through the same means/cost.
we use this table when looking for almost anything in particular we want used.
ONCE - our gm gave away a yt-1760. Now we knew something had to have been wrong with the ship that was gonna kill us, but we took it.
When we tried to get the ships registry changed, we found out it actually belonged to a guy named jodo kast. Turned out someone named boba fett was hunting him down. Fun times. |

Nice chart, tetsuoh. Are we to assume that you roll 2d6 to use it? |
