|
|
Hey guys I had a player ask me a question, and I can not remember the answer. I was hoping that someone could help me out a bit. I would very much appreciate it.
Player's question: "What is the back story behind how the original clone army was made? Who was the Jedi Master that put in the order for them? Why did he put in the order? Did he know when the army would be needed exactly or was that a coincidence? Was there anything deceitful behind him putting in the order for the clone army?"
I know that's a few questions but if anyone can provide me with that information that would be great. Thanks guys. _________________ -Hydro |

From reading all the books, there was no real backstory. It was part of Palpaltines plan to have them discovered and used to start the clone wars. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

That's what I thought but couldn't remember if there was more to it then that. Thanks for the input. _________________ -Hydro |

Here's the official line:
Quote: | The creation of a clone army was secretly ordered by Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas without the knowledge or approval of his comrades, in response to the growing shadow in the Force, though his army was soon discovered by Darth Sidious who plotted to use the clone army and its emergency codes for his own plans. |

I agree, but that's part of the canon. If it weren't for the Traviss novels, I wouldn't give a damn about the prequel era. |

Just because "George says it is so" does not make it so.
Canon is only canon if you accept it as such... I do not.

I encourage you to think for yourself. If you don't agree with it being "canon", don't accept it. _________________ Han - "How're we doin'?"

"Discovered" by Darth Sidious. I doubt the creation of the Clone Army came as a surprise to Sidious. Notice how Sifo-Dyas even sounds like Sidious (just remove that superflous -fo sound.) More likely Sidious influenced or controlled Sifo-Dyas. In addition, how did Sifo-Dyas plan to pay for the Clones. I would think the Kaminoans would have wanted some assurance from more than just a single, random Jedi Master that the bill was going to be paid. |

"In addition, "Sido-Dyas" was originally only a false identity for Sidious—Obi-Wan claimed never to have heard of him, and Mace Windu confirmed that there was no Jedi by that name."

Attack of the Clones, draft script.
Should have kept it that way IMO. _________________ My Biggest Beard Retard award goes to: The Admiral of course.. |

I was under the impression that he was looking for the official story, hence my answer. I completely agree with throwing the official stuff to the wind if it doesn't mesh with what you're trying to do. |

I think they all agree that you are correct and it is canon. _________________ Random is who random does... |

Actually that is the definition of being canon, being in film or the novelizations of them.. As for something from the originator of the series counts. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

True by definition.
But I assumed Rerun meant, "Canon is only meaningful or necessary if you accept it as such...I do not." |
